I am 3 yrs post op (have lost a total of 98 lbs) and had my fourth fill about a month ago. I have been struggling getting anything down! It is that constant battle of trying not to throw up. I'm also experiencing an acid/unsettled feeling in my stomach for a few hours after trying to eat. I'm thinking it may be too tight??

Also, does anyone else ever experience the need to cough during and after meals? I feel like I am drowning in saliva and phlem.

Thanks for the help!!

Lol. Funny you say that about eating better standing up because that is what is happening to me now. I can't eat Breakfast, eating lunch is more successful standing up and dinner is the best meal of the day.

I honestly don't ever eat breakfast. Shame on me, I know. But I do eat lunch standing up because I sometimes don't get a lunch break. Do you struggle with any of the other things I mentioned?

I'm 4 years out, 110 lbs lost but struggling with recent weight gain. Can't seem to find the green zone! It sounds like you are both too tight and could use an unfill. Just a little out can make a world of difference. Acid reflux is no fun and cause some serious damage.

Good luck!

Sounds like you are too tight. I think a visit to the Dr and a small unfill are in order.

I just had this same experience this past week. Thought I had a sore throat as the week went on I wasn"t able to swallow whole foods, then Water and other liquids. Went to sugeon and they removed 1 cc from my band and immediate relief !!!!

Not sure why the band became tight, but I see that bands can be fickle sometimes !

I am also too tight. I was plodding along fine but my dad has been taken seriously ill and my band tightnened to the point where i can get food/liquid down but it just sits there like its nowhere to go, I then have to bring it up. I have been here before with the same symptoms and had to have a defill. As my body had not had decent calories for weeks as soon as I had some taken out and was able to eat my body clung on to those calories for dear life and before I knew it i'd put on 21lb! My symptons are acid reflux, Fluid coming down my nose whilst sleeping and when i'm lying down a very annoying chesty cough that sounds like i'm a 60 a day smoker!

I know I need a defill but I am hoping it will correct itself as I can't really afford the £80 plus £40 petrol to get there.

I relate to all of these symptoms... I have had to start sleeping with my cpap machine on, so that I won't choke on my saliva at night. Reading about serious medical problems concerning acid reflux and tight banding... I'm going to get some taken out asap. Not happy about it but much better than being miserable and jeopardizing this whole lap band journey.

Seriously you last two need to get an unfill! Trying to tough it out is a recipe for having a slip and/or damage to your pouch and esophagus from acid reflux! It's not worth it! If you are eating correctly & drinking enough Water then you need to spend the money before you do serious damage! Good luck.

The band is a fickle thing. Stress has absolutely caused my band to tighten in the past. It's not worth it because that continued PB'ing and acid causes inflammation which continues to prevent good eating & drinking habits, even if you get some Fluid out. So run, not walk, and get some fluid removed. :) Remember, this is a journey, not a race and you want the band to last & work for the long haul. Best to you!

Thank you all for the encouragement to have Fluid taken out of my band... I have a wonderful fill nurse, and she met me on her day off and removed 2cc's of fluid... The indigestion has stopped and I was able to eat a meal, without sliming or removing the plug... It really was the first time in 2 years.. She told me that I am all swollen and that it will take some time for the swelling to go down.. Yesterday my port was sooo sore after she removed the fluid... today it is much better, the swelling of my esophagus has gone down and I no longer feel that it is into my throat and mouth... Disaster diverted... Thank you all...

I had my 2nd fill last Monday and it's hard to swallow even liquids I have to take my time. I've lost almost 7 lbs this week which is allot since I've only lost 6 the previous 6weeks prior to 2nd fill. I have 5cc's in a 10cc's band I went from 4 which I could eat almost anything to 5 with restriction. My dilemma is I want to lose this weight I'm excercising walking 5 miles daily but I wonder should it be this easy I can eat but have some pain swallowing almost everything a heavy feeling except for hot Soup. I just would like to know anyone's opinion on what they think. I feel great, rarely hungry and can nibble all day long. I have had to PB a few times when I have apparently eaten to much. This is the only time since my surgery that I have had restriction so I'm wondering if this is common?

For me, it seems that it takes a couple weeks after a fill to begin feeling normal with foods again. First week full liquids (3days) then mushies and slowly introducing my favorites. I do find I am having to sip my coffee more and really concentrate in my food and it's texture with chewing. I feel great too. A couple episodes but overall, it's more focus on those rules. I'm in green zone now not hungry and find I have to supplement with Protein (isopure zero carb beverage 40 gms protein). I'm using my fitness pal app which helps. My band can be finicky with heat, laying down then getting up to eat, stress or rushing, and low Water intake.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
