Freaking Out! Messed Up On The Liquid Diet.

Had my surgery on 7/30 and started the full liquid diet on 8/1 was doing great drinking protein shakes and yogurt and soups with no chunks liquefied in the blender. Sticking strictly to the nothing thicker than a pudding like they said. Then at 6 days out I started to blend thicker items like a stroganoff that was more of the applesauce consistency. Then to my horror as I was reading through all my paper work that I jump the diet by a week. I have not eaten any solids or really over eaten and anything that was chunky even the purees I chewed them up, did I cause harm, because I am freaking out. going to call my surgeons office in the morning and let them now how stupid i was that i cant comprehend the definition of liquid and see what they have to say. Has anyone else ate the purees when they were supposed to be on full liquids?

Don't panic you are fine, just go back to your liquids as per your surgeons instructions. I was to be on a 2 week liquid phase after surgery but because I couldn't get my protein down the surgeon said

  • Thank you all for the reassurance, I called the surgeons office today and they said that as long as I had no pain, nausea or vomiting than I should be fine. Just go back to the liquids.

i did the same thing and it wasnt a problem in the end. i was just too hungry to continue with just liquids..

Don't panic you are fine, just go back to your liquids as per your surgeons instructions. I was to be on a 2 week liquid phase after surgery but because I couldn't get my protein down the surgeon said get right on to the mushy stages but make it liquidy. Its 2 weeks today and I am on Mushy stage for another 2 weeks. I am finding new recipes, making my own fresh fruit smoothies adding protein powder to my foods. Remember your pouch is healing.

I only had 1 week after surgery of liquids I skipped mashed food my Dr told me it was ok I guess everyone is different I had bake potatoes, soups and pasta no meat and it worked for me I started exercising 2 1/2 weeks after surgery I'm a Cyclest so I needed to eat . Just listen to your Dr and your body and don't over do it I'm sure everything will be ok

Yes you're fine. Every doc is diff. I had a friend who had 48 hours of liquid. 5 days of mooshies and then back to regular food. As long as your body is telling you that you are ok then you are. Good luck!

True confession: I started on solid foods one week after surgery and had no compliations.
