My first fill was 2cc, and I didn't really feel much different. My second fill of 2cc (bringing me to 4cc) was the Ah-ha moment that let me know this was going to work. As for pain, you get a needle poked into your stomach. It's nothing much really. My last fill was 100% pain free, but strangely I bled afterwards. My other fills were more uncomftorable, but no bleeding..

After fills, my Dr recommends 48hrs liquid, then a day of mushy before going back to a regular diet.

probably a dumb question, but why a 48 hr liquid diet?

Simply because your stomach or where the band sets get swollen after the fill, so they don't want your stomach to work hard to digest food. I had my first full yesterday and my Dr put me on 24 hours liquid back to regular food tonight. Each doctor is different.

I must say this. I had my surgery done by Dr. Stan Hoehn. Great surgeon. I had my first fill by Dr. Hamilton. I was hoping Dr. Hamilton was liberal on the fills because I had a hunch Dr. Hoehn was fairly conservative based on my wife who was banded last late october. I consider 3cc's fairly liberal, and I'm guessing I'll get another 3cc's next month. I'm hoping to be down 50lbs by end of december.

Perhaps I'm hoping my results will be more than what reality is. I'm 5'10" and weighed 265 back on June 4th. I weigh 252 today (though with clothes on the doctor's office had me at 254).

I'm anxious to lose weight.

I had a Protein Shake after getting my fill and it reminds me just after surgery how I could feel everything empty out of the pouch....I LOVE THAT FEELING!

I have a 4cc band. My first fill was one cc then yesterday I went up to 3 cc which appeared to be a perfect fill according to the xray and my doctor but I spent all night and morning choking on even Water. This morning I had 1 cc taken out but still choked all day. Turns out my stomach swells up real easily after a fill so its been warm coffee and popsicles all day. The sweeping is now going down to wear I can take a small drink of water. I will have to go back up to 3cc very slowly, everyone is different. My first fill I didn't even notice a difference.

Don't get discouraged! You don't wanna loose too fast and you dont wanna take a chance on getting a slip and having a complete un fill or losing your band all together. You are doing great and it will come sometimes slowly but surely. I was banded in 2008 my beginning weight was 225. And I am now 150 which is my goal. And I have had alot of ups and downs and I at times was impatient and everytime I had to get an un fill it set me back. So my advice is to Celebrate everytime even if it's just 1 lb. thats 1 lb. less than what u were, and try to be patient. Live day to day and you will reach your goal in time and it will all be worth it. But you gotta think positive. You've got this! I have faith in you!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
