Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Hi Everyone-

It has been on my mind lately to start a new post as a positive, motivational, and inspiring thread. I have noticed several threads lately where those considering surgery are asking if it is 'possible' to lose 100 pounds with the band. My answer to that is...Yes, it definitely is. Many say it is not realistic. But I have watched the amazing progress of LBT members on the board, and believe it is not only realistic, it is happening to many of our LBT members all around us. And for those that aren't quite there yet, many members are extremely close. As time goes by with lapband increasing in popularity and the number of LBT members growing everyday, I believe the list is only going to increase by leaps and bounds.

Any and all weight loss is a huge accomplishment for us all. While I realize that many members don't need to lose 100 pounds or more, many do. And for those who do, it offers not only motivation to see that other bandsters have done it...but most importantly it offers the hope that it can be done with the band!

This will be a running thread to offer positive motivation, inspiration, hope, and encouragement. Please PM me or post here to have your name added to the growing list when you hit 100 pounds lost, or if you want your amount lost updated. Congratulations to everyone on any and all weight loss!

Hi Heather!

It absolutely counts!! 100 pounds lost from your highest, whenever that may have been, is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations on your amazing weight loss!! Welcome to the club!

Robyn

100 pounds lost from your highest, whenever that may have been,
Well in that case, I was 277 over 4 years ago and am now at 162. Started my lap-band journey at 244 on 8-14-03.

Gosh, I'm so thrilled for each of you 100 pounders!! Can't wait to join you, but in the meantime, I'm riding on your wave of enthusiasm and determination!

More amazing to me is the clothing change. I've lost 16 inches in my pants size, from a 56-58 down to a 42.

70 more to go!!!!

That's just freaking awesome! :clap2:

Seventy more to go?? You're at 254 now, you want to be at 184? Won't you be skin and bones?

Congrats and Welcome Vera!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Photonut....It won't be long.....you're over half way there. Come on girl, you can do it!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

this is a great thread. i had 183 pounds to lose when i was first banded. i have only lost 55 pouinds but am looking forward to losing the last 128 with all of you. i want to say thank you for all your kind words of encouragement and support through out this. I can hardly wait to add my name to the 100 pounds gone club.

Congrats to all of you who have made it here already. never lose sight of who you are for those of us who are struggling to get here.

P'nut,

According to the BMI charts, I am "normal" at 189. We'll see, I just may look like skin and bones!

I also want to go a little low bfore I consider any plastic surgery... a tummy tuck may occur if my skin does not tighten up, again, we'll see. I've heard from a few that it is better to go a little low before a tuck, that way when you get back to "normal" it is nice and tight in your abdomen. Again, we'll see.

To add to this, I went and bought new jeans last night... 42s, and I could get on the 40's, but were tooo tight for comfort... but I got them on!

Hey Paul - I'm planning on doing the same thing before any PS. My BMI shows me normal at 130. Maybe I've just been fat so long that I'm afraid to be that "skinny" now. The last time I weighed 130 was 30 years ago, and I don't want to look old and frail! But I might just go for that before the PS and then gain a few to look a bit healthier. Like you said, we'll see! We are exploring unknown territories! LOL

Photonut....It won't be long.....you're over half way there. Come on girl, you can do it!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm trying! I'm trying! *big smiles*

Hi my name is Angie C. I was banded 4-15-04 and I have lost 110lbs and have reached my goal. So it is possible to lose more than 100lbs with the band.

Hiya Angie!! Go to the Introduction Forum on the main page of LBT and post so everyone will meet you. Do you have before and after pics? I'd love to see what you've accomplished in just one year!! Wow! Grats and welcome to LBT!

I was happy to see how many people were on the 100+ list. I was a little disappointed when leaving my doctor's office with them telling me... you need to be 135 lbs, however, we see that with the lap band, you will realistically be 200 lbs. I was saying to myself... what am I going to go through this for? Well, I guess it's better to be 200 than it is to be 300+ so I went ahead with being banded. I just read this thread 2 days post-op and am encouraged that I will make my goal, which is 150 lbs.

Angie C-

Welcome to the club. You're weight loss is awesome girl!! Keep up the great work:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Sugar1-

It is not only possible, it will happen for you! Keep a positive attitude, do everything they tell you, and work the band as hard as you can (especially in the first 6 months), and most importantly...have patience. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.:scared:

Bless each of you for encouraging those of us who are considering the lap band. I spent way too much time reading the complications thread, and got scared. The pictures, the notes, the progress reports are sooo powerful and positive.

I'm calling United Health Care tomorrow!:)
