Can You See Your Port? (Photo)

Recommended Posts

Ever since I was baned this has been an ongoing question.

I have always said mine looks like a golf ball under my skin.

Well going through our vacation photos, I found one that shows it.

It is attached to the abdomen muscles, right under the skin because there is no longer a fat layer as a barrier.

I can feel every nook and cranny. Also, if you look close you can see the tube come out the side towards the center before it goes deep.

I once had a kink in my tubing preventing a fill. It was easy for the Dr. to palpate the tube and straighten it out.

I never worry about the port flipping.

A one armed blind man can give me a fill. Heck, I could do them myself. (I've considered carrying a syringe on vacations in case I need to do a emergency un fill 1000's of miles from home.)

So, say hello to my little friend "Lumpy"

WOW!!! Do you ever accidentally hit it on anything?

I worry mine will end up similar. As I lose, it's becoming more and more noticeable. It used to be I had to lay down and lift my legs to make it pop to the surface, now, I can easily feel it all the time. I can even feel it through my shirt if I just rub the area where it is.

Mine is the same way! It sticks out about half a golf ball, I have been able to feel it since surgery as well as the tube and on the fill port I can feel the target area!

LOL, is it wrong that I just looked at this thread to see you in a swim suit, B-52?? LOL

Do people ever ask what it is?

Can't see mine; never could. I can feel it, but it's not visible. Don't know how my surgeon hides them. He said HIS are never visible!! lol

I've only lost 40 lbs and I can feel mine really well. It almost looks like a hernia in that photo! That was my first thought.

The way I see it, and you may too B-52; as unsightly as it may be, you worked HARD to have that port show! It's no longer covered up by fat. That's an accomplishment!

I have it set in my head that the looser skin and showing port that come along as I get closer to my goal are an accomplishment. I may not entirely love how my body looks when I hit my goal, but I hated my body at 243 lbs.

It actually looks like a hernia - or an alien trying to get out.

If you look at my Profile Pic, I am cleverly holding a bottle of beer in front of it!

I still have some abdomen fat to lose, so it's not noticeable to look at, although it can be felt. Maybe once I get a flat tummy, I'll be able to. ;)

Yup, I can see mine very easily after dropping 80 lbs. A 1/2 golf ball, that's funny! I even have a picture where I am wearing a tank top and you can see it. I don't wear a bikini b/c of it but honestly, that fact that I can now even CONTEMPLATE wearing a bikini makes me so happy I don't mind "little lumpy." Although maybe I'll look into one of those low profile ports if I ever need to change out in the future.

Thanks for posting about this - I was wondering what everyone else's experience has been.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
