15 Days Out And Having Some Problems....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am 26 years old and had my surgery on June 13th. I started out feeling great and everything was healing as I assumed it was supposed to. I didn't have to do any type of pre-op diet, but since the surgery I have lost 23 pounds in 15 days. A few days ago I wasn't feeling well and my Dr. wanted to see me. I was told that I was losing weight a little too fast and I needed to skip forward to week 5 eating which of course is meat and cheese and things like that. Since I have been actually eating I feel a lot better, but I still don't feel 100% myself. I keep wondering if this surgery was a mistake. I am so tired, whenever I go out and do things I constantly have to sit down (which I never had to do before surgery) and I'm just wondering if this is normal and does it ever go away. I just want to feel 100% and feel like myself again, and I'm starting to wonder if that's ever going to happen....

I went through the same thing on a much more accelerated scale. My doctor's plan after surgery was two days liquids, two days mushies and then eating as tolerated. Once I started eating solids and a few healthy carbs (which my doctor didn't recommend, but I felt my body needed) I started feeling MUCH better. I'm five months out now and have been feeling great all those months with the exception of the first couple of weeks.

A 23 lb loss in 2 weeks is a lot for your body to adjust to. Add recovering from surgery to it, and it's no wonder you are not 100%! Your body has been through a bunch of trauma. Give it time, eat the foods you are prescribed, and heal up!

It's only been 2 weeks! Two weeks is 4% of 1 year.

It can take up to 6 weeeks to recover from surgery, rest as often as your body tells u to, eat what your doctor has advised u to and maybe take some Multi Vitamins etc, everyone feels tired for a length of time post op ... you are just healing so dont push it and it will eventually get better...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
