In The Mix And Waiting For The Surgery Date

Recommended Posts

So finally after not have insurance and wasting who knows, thousands of dollars on pills, powders, dvds and more I am just about done with everything and am awaiting to select a date for surgery.

I have to take one pre-op class on mental changes, and get a ultra sound of my abdomen. Then we schedule. This is a 10 year decision in the making. Im 28 and being 350 lbs is getting in the way of me taking charge of the things I want to do. I carry the weight well and people don't think I am as big as I am but its time for a change.

Any advice for the pre-op liquid diet? ?

Any addicted to Soda like I am and have suggestions on how to kick it? I switched to diet, and only drink 1-2 a day, which is good, I used to drink 5-6 a day. I've cut back but need to kick it. Any thoughts.

Well I just started drinking Water and never stopped because I truly love it. I only have the $1 McDonald's coke zero every like 2 months. It's easy I promise and you'll feel better.

For the liquid diet I drank Water, 322 shakes and yasso frozen Greek.yogust smoothies and Jello pudding. It wasn't bad at all. It really showed me to recognize hungry or bored.

Gooduck!!

I stopped cold turkey the day of surgery. I can have Decaf I ice coffee so that's my drink of choice when I'm out in the summer (splendra no milk). It really does'nt bother me. I would go through soda phases where I drank it all the time and when I never had any preop.

Wow! I can't believe how similar your story is to mine! I too have been contemplating this decision for many years, I'm 29 and started at 334! I too am waiting for a date (probably the 2nd week of July) and have gone from reg. pop to diet and 1-2 a day....lol I think that's so weird that we're so similar! Keep this thread updated will yaa? Maybe we can be band buddies if you have around the same date as me ?!?!? Good luck to you!

I used the waiting period to get a head start on the weight loss.... Practice chewing, i know that sounds stupid but here in a few months, you will understand why!

I am practicing the chewing and making the meals longer since I am a fast eater. I have a timer I set for 20 minutes at meals, have to admit I've only gotten to 15 and that's when I am REALLY conscious of it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
