misslock got a reaction from mrsclooney918 in NutritionistI'm really curious to see how many people went, how many times and if they went after the operation.
I went about 5 times, once a month to see mine before the surgery. BCBS had a rule about 6months but it stopped in January and I still chose to go.
Working with her I concentrated first in what I was eating, not how much. We figured out my triggers (boredom), downfalls (not planning) and that I had to see food as fuel for my body and not a reward. After we did these steps then we worked in size.
I felt really ready for the liquid duet and am ready now for all the stages and the rest if my life. I plan on following the 90/10 rule with food because that's what I feel I can manage and achieve success with.
Today I had my first post op visit (I get my first fill in 2 weeks!!) And right after I met with my nutritionist. I love seeing her, she keeps ne accountable and is a tool for my goal. She helps me with menus and recipes too.
For the mushies stage instead if regular mashed potatoes I am making mashed cauliflower potatoes which are soooo yummy and way better for you.
Does anyone have a nutritionist they see/saw that is helping them? She sends our dayone group recipes, food and has a support group. It's helping me, how bout you guys?

misslock reacted to daisychains7 in Lapband FailureI'm sorry you are going through that Erica. I doubt some of the complications you went through helped in your weight loss. I am not judging you, but you said you are eating the wrong foods and not sticking to the advice you were given. Why? Fills won't do anything if you are drinking while eating, snacking or having slider foods. The cycle of guilt, overeating, then hating myself because I "failed" is what made me fat to begin with so I am trying not to be "perfect" this time, but eat in a way I can live with long term. Willpower is difficult but necessary for ANY type of WLS.

misslock got a reaction from kah1213 in 6/8 Banded, Day...4?So I was banded on June 8th, doctors and nurses said I did great was sitting up and walking pretty fast.
I am really gassy inside and walking and gasx helps some but I still feel really gassy inside. My back is starting to hurt too but I can sleep on my side that the port is not on. I can walk and eating is fine.
I've been monitoring portions and calories. I have water, lowfat no sugar smoothies, a little gatorade, broth, cream of chicken soup, popsicles and broth. I don't eat much and try to keep hydrated.
With the liquid diet for 2 weeks and my post op, I've list 20lbs do there awesome!!
Not for one second do I regret this and I am soooo happy to change my lifestyle. I look forward to meal planning, trying new recipes, exercising, skinny sex!! Clothes shopping!!
Did anyone else's back hurt, in the middle? I'm trying to avoid pain meds now so I don't get constipated. Any advice would be appreciated? Also on the gas? Trying to get it out?
My starting weight was 250 and I'm at 230 right now, Dr's appt Friday and meeting with nutritionist then too. I plan on seeing mine for the next few months to keep building healthy eating habits and keep me extra accountable.
Hope everyone is doing well!!

Cook meats slow in a crock pot they are moist tender and easy to break down steam veggies and I stay with multiple grain cracked wheat or rye breads. I prefer rye lightly toasted it doesn't get stuck and it's only 70 calories a slice. I also eat veggie burgers and soy burgers and deli chicken breast. For lunch I will have canned chicken breast light mayo and wasa crackers or one slice toasted rye smeared with a wedge of weight watchers cheese and some turkey breast and I eat it like a pizza. dinner sautéed chicken breast with garlic olive oil and seasonings with stead veggies. Occasionally I will have a little cous cous or brown rice but it fills u up fast with little protein value so I don't make a habit of it. Breakfast is either two eggs with a slice of rye or special k with a banana and nonfat milk. Well that was long winded but I hope it helps:) it takes time to discover what works for you that u enjoy get creative. My rules are no whites (white bread rice flour etc) no sweets no sliders (ice cream etc) and I minimize carbs and I am a dreaded calorie counter. I was banded in nov and I am 100 pounds down. Just remember we are all different get creative and experiment .

misslock reacted to Kdubb in In The Mix And Waiting For The Surgery DateSo finally after not have insurance and wasting who knows, thousands of dollars on pills, powders, dvds and more I am just about done with everything and am awaiting to select a date for surgery.
I have to take one pre-op class on mental changes, and get a ultra sound of my abdomen. Then we schedule. This is a 10 year decision in the making. Im 28 and being 350 lbs is getting in the way of me taking charge of the things I want to do. I carry the weight well and people don't think I am as big as I am but its time for a change.
Any advice for the pre-op liquid diet??
Any addicted to Soda like I am and have suggestions on how to kick it? I switched to diet, and only drink 1-2 a day, which is good, I used to drink 5-6 a day. I've cut back but need to kick it. Any thoughts.

misslock got a reaction from BigDennis in Buyers Remorse?I don't know how many of you had to meet with a nutritionist before hand but I did for 5 months and it really helped me food as fuel. If course food has instant gratification but that's not how it's supposed to be. The 2 week liquid diet made me see how I was just eating emotionally and didn't need to it or was just thirsty. My health and happiness are more important than instant gratification and a less healthy life. Just think of how good it feels to lose weight and do more. Food is fuel, not our friend to rely on. Good luck and maybe examine tour relationship with food with a therapist. I got banded yesterday and am excited for the future, 15lbs down, 90 to go.

misslock got a reaction from christinek in Chicago Girl With 6/8 As MyHi everyone!! I'm new here and have my surgery scheduled for next Friday, June 8th.
Im 28 and started at about 250 lbs. I am about 5'6 1/2.
I started my liquid diet last Saturday and have lost 7lbs.
I am doing my surgery at DayOneHealth in Chicago and have Dr. Elli as my surgeron
My liquid diet is sugar free Jello, pudding, popsicles, fudgsicles. Also skim milk, Water, 100% juice/sugar free apple juice, diet v8 splash, and low fat low sodium broth. I can do cream Soups if strained.
The first few days weren't so bad but I'm getting REALLY hungry lately. I just keep trying to drink my water when I feel that way and it seems to help. Otherwise a sugarfree pudding usually helps. I am DYING for a grilled chicken breast or something.
I would like to lose, ideally 100lbs but think 75-85 would be amazing. Dr Elli says I can lose 100 though so that's my goal!!!
I can't wait to be more active, have more energy, buy clothes in normal stores!!! (i still shop in regular store but it can be hard and i hate always looking for the biggest size and not knowing if it will fit) and skinny sex lol!!
I am really looking forward to this site, making new friends i hope, and starting this journey!!
