Hey everyone! Been here, snooping on all of the posts as a nonmember while I've been contemplating getting banded. :) I took the plunge and registered for the seminar June 6 and my first appointment with the surgeon is June 11. I'm so excited. I have loved the support and wealth of information that you all share with each other! I've been taking notes when I read something and think it would be something I may need in the future :) I've been overweight my whole life, as far as I can remember. I haven't really let it hold me back, I've still done the things I like to do...traveling extensively, maintaining amazing friendships, just living life to the fullest. I'm not afraid of work, even hard work...back in 2010 I worked and worked and lost about 70 lbs while training to do something I never thought possible...a half marathon...and I did it, crossed that finish line and felt on top of the world, unstoppable! Since then, I burned out on the hours a day that I was working out and getting my training miles in. I was up and at the track before sunrise, then headed to work, then to the gym, and two nights a week followed it up with zumba classes, and weekends were designated for my long mileage training. So needless to say I just got burned out. I'm looking to the band for some help and hope that I have as much success as so many of you all have shared about!! Ready to be healthy and happy and truly live with no limits :-D

Welcome Crystal! This environment is so welcoming and friendly, you are in the right place. I am waiting on insurance approval at the moment and looking at mid-June or July for the surgery. Keep us updated on your progress, maybe we will be banded around the same time!

Thank you both!

My insurance requires the 6 month supervised diet/fitness so I'm looking at more like December/January for actual surgery...But that gives me a really good "head start" on getting things going! Please keep me posted on your approval, date and progress!!

My insurance did require it and then it changed in so hopefully the process will go faster. You have a great attitude and that alone will get you where you want to be,

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
