Going Friday To Schedule My Banding. We Have Serveral Trips Planned.

We will be going out of town in June...drving for about 10 hours. Does anyone have any travel stories soon after being banded? Also, how long must you stay out of the water ie the ocean or pool?

I would think staying out of the water would depend on how your incisions are healing; I would check with your doc about that. I do find it more challenging eating out but you can do it if you plan ahead, and I would bring some snacks that travel well so you don't always have to eat fast food.

I flew three hours four days after surgery and was fine. I did not have any saline put in my band at time of surgery.

as for water, I was told 2 weeks as long as incisions were healing fine... I would be hesitant about a public pool due to so many different people swimming about.

I was told two weeks before returning to swimming. 10 hours is a long drive. Soon after surgery you may need to be concerned about blood clots sitting for long periods of time. I did find holding a couch pillow in my lap between me and the seatbelt made riding in the car more comfortable.
