Hi There!

I'm not sure when you had your surgery, but the Anesthesia they use to put you to sleep when you have an operation can sometimes have that effect. I went to a dermatologist about 6 months after my band and he told me it is quite normal to have some temporary Hair loss during the first 6 months after surgery and also when your body is losing weight and going through so much change. It is temporary...sure enough my hair started to grow back in. Hang in there!!

I lost about half my hair four months after surgery due to the anesthesia. Then a few months later it fell out in handfuls again due to the rapid weight loss. Fortunately, I had thick hair -- now I have thin hair. It is growing in very, very slowly and making my hair stick out funny. :phanvan

The only thing that really worked some is Biotin. Scientific studies showed it works to some degree. More Protein did not work -- I was eating plenty while losing and started drinking Protein for my hair. Nioxin (the Shampoo and treatment) did not help and I used it for several months.

So...time and a Multivitamin that has Biotin. And more time. Of course, my age is slowing the process, too, I'm sure. Hope your hair starts growing back soon. It will grow back.

Ditto on Biotin. That's what I've heard. Good luck, and don't worry it should grow back. Besides, worry may cause Hair loss. Just kidding.

I am 4 months post op and starting taking Biotin about a month ago -- my Hair loss is definately slowing down. I am not sure if it's the biotin or if my shedding phase is over.........nothing ventured, nothing gained though -- the bariatric dietician told me to take 2 tablets daily. You can just buy it at the drugstore with the other vitamins........There's no way I could add more Protein to my diet, but someone reccommended high protein Shampoo -- haven't looked into that yet, but it may be worth a try. I think that once the hair is ear marked to be shed though there is not much you can do to stop it. You just have to prevent further loss.......break the cycle!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
