Pre Op Calorie Intake

Recommended Posts

How many calories, carbs and sugars are you taking in each day? I'm struggling to make it to 800 cals. I fear that at this rate I won't lose weight on the liquids and my body will go into starvation mode. It's tough not having a scale because I can't see if I'm losing any weight. I had got to a point where my body was burning fat and my metabolism had boosted from the norm. I don't want my body to go backwards :(

I'm on day 5 of the pre op diet. Go to the doctor the day before surgery. I want to do my body more good than harm. Any feedback would be great. Thanks :)

Dont worry hon 800 cals wont make u go into starvation mode.

Im not a big believer in it anyways but my body has enough fat to convert to energy that i could LIVE in starvation mode.

I was worried about that too but the nurse told me just to be sure to get enough protein....all the time. I doubled up on the scoops of Protein Powder for my shakes.< /p>

About how much Protein would you say? I'm taking in 60g a day.

My doctor told me minimum 60 -100 gr. Some days I'm a bit over, but I've found if I'm good on my Protein I don't get as hungry either.

Ok, maybe I should try to communicate with my dr. I wasn't told a specific number but I know it needed to be high and the sugar and carbs needed to be low. I was instructed to only have 1-2 Protein shakes due to the sugar and carbs in it. So I was thinking of just mixing my own up, that way I can control my Protein intake and keep an eye on those carbs and sugars. As of now I'm drinking Premier Protein shakes which is 30g protein. They taste pretty good but I want to make sure I'm getting enough. Thanks for your feedback :)

I was also told 800-1000 cals and at least 60g protien. Wasn't given guidlines for sugar or carbs probably because what I was told to eat is very low in both

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
