I'm feeling ok. Trying to get Protein down. I don't have much of an appetite. I'm sure I'm not getting enough protein down. Yeah I have a little burning at my port too. How much protein are we supposed to have? My book just says Clear Liquids day 1&2 then full liquids days 3-13. I've been drinking the nectar fruit juice has 23g of protein in it and Unjury chicken broth.< /p>

My doc said 60 to 80 grams of protein. I haven't felt hungry and have to remind myself to eat. I don't have a problem getting protein in. I do my shakes and then Greek yogart. I can start mushie on Friday so I'm sorta excited about that.

Oh wow! I'm not even close to that amount of Protein. I guess I need to pick up the pace and sip on stuff as soon as I get up. Barely getting 35-40g.

I didn't get all that Protein the first 3 days with only getting 4oz at a time. I did have broth that has protein and Greek yogart. The protein will come is what my doc said.......and it has!!!! I'm getting my protein and fluids in each day. I can't drink half hour before eating and an hour after eating. I do know that once I did get my fluids and protein in I felt better and I felt better sooner. Just really think about fluids and protein. I might not of mentioned this but the only thing I drank before my journey was diet sodas!!!!! Now it is Water and I started that two weeks before my surgery. I'm proud already of what I have accomplished so far and its just the beginning of the journey!!! All I can say is God Is Good!!!!! Tammy

Did anyone find themselves gaining weight once they could eat again? I have gained 3 lbs since getting off the liquid diet and being able to eat food and don't know if this is normal. I can't eat a lot, so I don't know if I should be concerned. Also, when I eat I get this feeling like I have a balloon in my chest and it scares me. Is something wrong? Should I see my doctor?

That sounds normal, but you can always avail your doc in the morning to be safe.

Thanks Tammy- and yep God is Good! I'm going to just continue to focus on getting in my protein as much as I can. I still have no appetite. My Dr. has me on full liquids for 7 days. So day 1 was yesterday - I guess when the swellin in my stomach goes down I will be able to get my Proteins in.

surgeon says this plication could help with slippage issues later on. and that it should help me feel more fuller (which would be great) but def a extra tool along with the bad bc if i overeat or drink high calorie, what good is it.

Carolinagirl2012: What good is plication..You asked about over eating or drinking high calorie stuff and getting sick from it -

Well, YEP ! That is why I have plication - I am stubborn and I need to be kicked in the teeth every so often and reminded what is in my stomach! I have eaten too much and too many sweets - oh, not at first but as time went on..the cravings came back with a vengance..I gave in, ate them and promptly got miserably sick. PB, spitting up, slimming, the entire lovely mess - can't breathe too good either. Well, note to self: Don't do that again..and that what good the plication is. Plus with all that drama, my band did not slip because of the plication. I am 9 mos post op and doing great. Down 93 pounds and feeling real good. Do I still want the bad stuff? You bet I do and every now and then I have some, get sick and then get over it. This whole deal is going to keep the weight from coming back on me. I have two tools and they work well together (for me). Have a good week..

I am really nervous. I am not eating that much, but have gained 5 pounds in the last week. Am I doing something terribly wrong? I'm not eating bad stuff - carbs, Pasta, rice or anything. I have sausage or eggs for Breakfast. tuna, turkey, chicken salad for lunch or dinner. If I have a late breakfast, I won't be hungry for lunch so I'll have the salad for dinner. This weight gain has me worried. Any advice?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
