Concentric Pouch Dilation

Recommended Posts

I was banded in June 2008. To this day, I have only lost 30 pounds. I have been going up and down with the same 10 lbs now for the last year-and-a-half. I know why. I drink when I eat, and I drink a lot of soda. My concern right now is that my upper stomach is a lot larger than my lower stomach. Could this be a pouch dialation? I don't have any pain or heartburn, so I don't think it's a slippage. If it is just a dialation, can it go back down with just a change in eating habbits? I am too embarassed to go to my doctor. I haven't seen him in over two years and I don't want him to know that I haven't lost any weight. Does anyone out there have any advice, or ever experience something like this?

Do you mean visible from the outside, that your upper belly is fatter thn your lower? That wont be pouch dilation, pouch dilation is not visible apart fro under xray. Your stomach is not a huge organ and it is partly behind your ribcage, its not going to bulge out.

Yes, It is visible from the outside. I thought that maybe a dilation would just push everything else out so that the upper abdomen stuck out farther. I've been over-weight for a long time and I've never had this issue before.

You need to bite the bullet and go back to your doctor, i dont understand why you wouldnt want to see him, surely u were feeling like this when u first started this journey and u managed to overcome your feelings to get the ball rolling, just know that the fear of doing something is always worse than actually doing it. It might actually be the best thing u have done to help yourself .. so make that appointment and go talk to them :)

Just swap your soda for Water and dont drink at meal times and even that small change will make a difference ..

The other thing i want to mention is that if u can see your stomach outline it may well be that you have what is called a Diastasis Recti whioch is to do with the ab muscles not pulling together like a pair of curtains that just wont close, look it up on google and theres a test u can do to see if thats the problem. It often happens if u have been very heavy or from being pregnant :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
