Good morning, my name is Debbie, I found this web throught the book "The Expert's Guide To Weight-Loss Surgery"

I started my process on August 31st 2011! I am scheduled for my LapBand surgery on May 1st 2012!! May Day :D It sure has been a journey so far, some what I call set backs alone the way, I was denied in December due to not having the 6 mth supervised diet, sine then I have on my own lost 10 lbs.

I have been doing a lot of pre op preperation as I am sure some of you know about! Rite now it is count down time. "16" Days to go & as I like to call it "HAPPY NEW BIRTHDAY TO ME!" I have a lot of thought's and feeling rite now I do hear this in normal.

I am very exercise active but also have a wonderfully good/bad relationship with food.< /span>

I think one of my biggest obstacles is going to be the whole social aspect of food & drink. But I also know I need to do this!

I am excited to be a part of this online support group & meeting new people with simular experiances. I welcome any & all feed back!

Hope to see you soon!

Debbie~

  1. Hi Debbie, I am 5 days post opp. I am already down 9lbs and very excited. I agree with you that the biggest part of this is the social eating and drinking. Last night has I was thinking normaly I would be with friends have a great meal and even greater bottle of wine. I started to cry!!! I got over it about an hr later but it did cross my mind " what did I do". Let me know how it goes and be excited you will do great.

Hello jagzfamily. It sounds like your pre op diet is working well for you! When is surgery? I have a friend that had bypass in December & she told me she has learned to enjoy her social groups in a different way. I am a very or I should say I consider myself a very social person. But I guess I have to remember I also as I'm sure you do gave a lot of support.

Hello waitingpatiently

Thank you for the welcome! You are almost 2 months banded? How's it going???

I was banded 3/19 so I'm just about 4 weeks out. I had some other things done during surgery ( 2 hernias, a lot of adhessions removed) so I think I was a little more sore than most people that just have the band done. It took me an extra few days to bounce back. But the last two weeks have been great! I have been able to start adding exercise back into my schedule and between the 30 pounds lost (pre-op included), exercising, and eating the high Protein low carbs....I feel 5 years younger!!! I'm not loosing the huge amounts like some people, but I still think its amazing that each morning I weigh less than the day before. I have set a goal that I would like to be at goal after 1 year. thats only an average of 1 pound a week from here out. That way I don't put a lot of pressure on myself to meet a unrealistic goal, and won't give up if I can't make it. All in all, this has ben the bst thing I have done for myself!! I wish I would have done it 2 years ago when I first thought about it.

Hi Debbie!

Welcome to lapband talk! I too am new to this and also just received my approval to get the surgery done! I had a battle with Tricare for about 2 years trying to get approved. The first time I was denied they said it was because I was 18lbs to lite and needed to gain the weight in order to get the surgery done. I was crushed! But I know in my heart that this is something I need as I too have had quite the battle with food and a struggle with my weight for 17 years now. So I kept fighting and ended up having to do the 6 month nutritional counseling with my surgeon and am now getting the surgery :-) I want you to know that I wish you the very best of luck on your new journey with the lap-band and if there is ever any way I can be there for you let me know!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
