Finally got to step on the scale. About 2 days before surgery I was 307. Today I'm 297!

Sooo happy to finally be out of the 300+!!!

Congrats!! I can't wait to be under 300!

I with all of you some days I feel like I can eat just as much as before but I've noticed tht if I try to eat more than my band will allow I get that stuck feeling...I go for my first post op appt 2ma morning I don't knw if I'll get a fill but I'm thinking I will. Hoping tht my surgeon doesn't talk too bad to me :)

I do feel a stuck feeling if I eat too fast, I can actually feel the food squeezing through. I know I can eat anything, but I am still trying to stick to the plan and my calories. I ate cheese one day and because of the consistency of it, it was low going down. I get filled on the 25th and looking forward to that!

I'm surprised neither of you got a fill' date=' but if you are losing without it, that's great. I really hope my doctor gives me one so I won't get hungry as often.

Well as I posted in May Blooming Bandsters I spent 6 hrs in hospital yesterday due to severe Constipation and bowel obstruction. One of the most painful and worst things I have gone through. I have had lots of Water, and Miralax today. Just waiting for the rest of it to pass.. Wish it wasn't so painful.

I haven't been eating but I know I probably should :/ all I feel like is liquids right now[/quote']

Oh no, I know that was painful, hope you are feeling better

Yea I was really thinking he would' date='but nope...I was prepared for it...Im glad I didn't jus so I can enjoy my bday wknd a lil better and not just b on liquids.

Lawd girl that's just horrible!! I could not even imagine! So sorry you are going thru that![/quote']

My doctor won't do a fill either of you are losing weight. He says for some people the band is psychological and you may not need one until your weight loss slows down or you find yourself overrating.

Just curious...

I read on a few posts that people had no problems sleeping on their side/stomach or use pillow while sleeping in these positions. Has anyone tried sleeping on their side but feels like an abdomen muscle is being pulled (from the weight of your stomach)?

I was banded last Friday and I would love to be back on my side and stomach again' date=' but I don't want to do anything that might cause problems...[/quote']

My stomach felt very heavy when sleeping on my side at first, so I did prop the pillow under it so it wasn't just hanging there. After awhile that goes away. I am 19 days post op and sleep on my side no problem. I can even sleep partially on my stomach. But not all the way.

I guess I was lucky because I really didn't have any issues sleeping. I guess my pain meds had me knocked out.

Do any of you ladies have blogs? I have thought about starting one I just don't know if I would be as inspiring and creative as some of the ones I read. I also barely have time for the forums much less a blog. I would like to though.

Yes, I guess I don't understand those who say they can keep eating and eating. Lately after 1/2cup I feel uncomfortably full! I start burping and my stomach feels stuffed. How small are the bites you guys are taking? I am taking 45 mins to eat a small amount yet got some shrimp stuck yesterday :( so my only issue is, I get stuffed from a small amount, but I'm hungry again 2 hours later.

Oh no' date=' I know that was painful, hope you are feeling better[/quote']

Thank you. It was a nightmare! Colace and Water are my best friends right now.

I don't have a blog but I would totally read yours. I was watching YouTube videos this week and they were so inspirational and relatable.

I tried the pillow, it feels like it's pushing up too high. I can't win, so I'm just waiting it out.

I follow some bandsters (pre- and post-op) on Tumblr. Not really a blog dedicated 100% to WLS, but they share their stories. Also, a few of us do video blogs/journals on YouTube. I'm listed as purtyfulpnay on YouTube.

Hi May friends! I've been really busy with kids, family and Girl Scouts lately!

Today I had to make 2 veggie pizzas & 3 fruit pizzas and the kicker, I couldn't eat a single bite of it because I'm still on full liquids (still on full liquids a little longer than normal because we are waiting for my NP to get back from materity leave).

Tuesday I go back to see my NP! Then I expect to be moved to mushie stage and be told when to start regular foods and to schedule my first fill. However, on Monday I have an appt with my GYN and I am thinking she will be wanting to schedule a laparoscopy of my left ovary so, if that's the case that may delay my first fill. I heard or read somewhere anytime you go in for surgery with a band they like to unfill it before the surgery. So why bother to put anything in. Also, if she's going to do it, I'd like it sooner than later so I can heal overlapping this surgery so I can have some time with my kids in the Water this summer swimming.

I have a blog I'd be willing to share, just send me a message and I'll send you the web address.

Oh I **think** I'm down approximately 34.6 lbs (9.6 since surgery) since starting at the bariatric clinic. I can't wait to go in on Tuesday and see the difference between their scale and mine so I can make a note in sharpie on my scale ;)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
