I'm On The 6 Month Diet

Recommended Posts

M on month 3 and it's going by quick!! I'm glad I have no set amount of weight to lose and that they aren't strict...mostly. But the first month I was trying my hardest to lose weight and lost as much as 13ish pounds. Then when I went in and they said we focus on changing habits and not weight loss, I definitely took it the wrong way. My eating has been awful. I'm suppose to keep a food journal but I'm too embarrassed. I'm trying to get back on track but it's discouraging to think I can't do this. Any advice, for those who had to wait awhile before surgery?

take the time to learn new ways of eating. No drinking with meals and a lot of chewing. You are probably experiencing food and quantity size mourning ;-)

please keep the journal, as it will help you be accountable to yourself.

Are you eating the way you always have, or are you going a little crazy?

Hi there. I too have to do 6 monthly dr visits. I just finished month 2 and heading toward month 3 myself. I am going day by day, eating alot of fruits/veggies and very little (high fats/junk food). I am making an effort to eat Protein and do keep a food journal. We are having this surgery because we overeat and didnt exercise or whatever (those are my reasons)..now I am changing slowly. I am walking more, making an effort to eat better and await for my my journey to begin. You can do this. I hope to have my surgery in July or the beginning of August. Cant wait.

I have to do 6 month too, today was my 4th month!! i see the light!! I'm super excited. Other than having to an additional consult for sleep apnea I am good to go. My sleep apnea is not bad at all but my surgeon just wants to make sure I won't have any problems. I'm okay with that. =)

At first I thought to myself -"how am I ever going to make 6 months", The last 4 months went by super fast! You can do it. In one month I lost 5 pounds - food journaling helped so much! My Fitness Pal is what I use and I love it!

don't be embarrassed by logging your food. in the beginning I logged my food by hand, I started doing that in August 2011. I looked at those entries and laugh. I thought I was doing a good job with food choices! I have ventured out of my comfort range by a mile! later you will love looking at them too!

the time before my surgery was so helpful, especially the chewing, chewing, and more chewing! I always have loved Water so that was not a problem but, I really had to work on not drinking with meals!! by the time the surgery came it all felt like the normal way to eat!

Good luck with your 6 mth. deal, enjoy all you will learn!

I learned how to eat. I did not focus on any weight loss. I started at 256.8 when I finished the 6 months I was bigger than I started at 258.2. I dont know what happened with that. I guess it was hard to break old habits, but now Im banded I chew chew chew dont want to get stuck ever. Learn as much as you can, and focus on good food choices. The six moths will go fast and you will be banded in no time. Good luck in your journey to being a healthier you.

The 6 month diet goes by really quickly! ( I had to do it twice ) During my 6 months, I had to really watch my weight fluctuations. Due to insurance stiplulations, I had to show weight loss but I couldn't lose below a certain amount or would be denied. So I spent this time trying to get my head right and read as much as I could about LBS. I know several people who have had the surgery in my area ( including my spouse), so I was able to witness their successes, stumbles, etc. I am hoping that this will continue to help me as I am just starting this journey to the healthier me.

Good luck to you and those remaining months will FLY by!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
