Don't you just love it when someone that doesn't count every bite they take, or get up every morning and weigh only to be disappointed, tells you not to worry about it!!

Getting stuck is no fun at all...I have written down in my food journal what I ate and then if there was that stuck feeling, what it was I ate is listed...

But I at times also forget to chew to a mashed consistency and had to suffer for a bit...also to me if the item is dry. I ate thinly sliced turkey from a deli and ate slowly and all...but boy that was my worst stuck episode...for hours....and could not burp or move it along...it just worked its way thru...I do not consider turkey dry...but when I place a bit of chicken pieces in soup...I do not have this issue

Hello all. Well I won't be banded for a while so I am going to log out for a while. I start rchop chemo on the 23rd. Should take about five months to get through. Need to focus on that. Bad news is I will lose all my hair by the end of the month...good news is I wont have to shave my legs all summer long!

Keep the group going...wonderful support April bandsters! I would sooo much rather be losing it with y'all than going through this...but life is an adventure and apparently I am on a different ride! Goodluck to everyone! Stay strong I know you will all succeed and be fit an fabulous in no time at all!

Idahoanmom, I'll pray that you get through this with as little side-effects as possible! I'm sorry you have to go through this at all.

Well as of today I am down 18 lbs since surgery...I'm thinking that is pretty good seeing how Tuesday will be 3 weeks since my banding. I have done fairly well with sticking to how and what I am to eat. Still need to take in more Fluid and Protein but everyday gets better. I was finally able to sleep in my own bed after about a week due to I was still so sore where my incisions are. I had a few days were I over did it with getting out and about that I would feel sick and nauseated the rest of the day. I guess its called sliming. I would get all sick feeling and my mouth would Water like I was gonna be sick but never would. Other than that I have been fine. Went for my 10 day check up and doc said everything was healing well and my weight loss was good. He started me on solids but told me to take it slow. So for the past week I have been on them with very little issues. I haven't started exercising yet. Will try walking this week and gradually increase it from there.

Im still on the soft stage and i am noticing that i am getting hungry at least an 1 1/2 hours after a meal. I think its cause swelling is gone and we r loosing weight. I already had 6cc put in 10cc band on surgery day. Cant wait for a fill!

I am still in the soft stage and getting hungry between meals. So, I have been sipping on a Protein Shake between meals and it has really helped with the hunger. I am not drinking a whole Protein shake, but I will drink about 1/4 cup and it gets me thru to the next meal time. I do not currently have anything in my band. They put 3cc in day of surgery, but had to take it back out the next day due to swelling and vomiting. I am hoping to get a fill this friday.

I went to the doc today....I told him about my eating and how even a bit of food is making me full..I was banded on 4-18..

He said NO fill as I was being satisified. That he did place saline in the band...at time of surgery...

I have been having back and chest pain when eating very little. So that was also a reason he said no to the fill...

I am amzed at the range of those being able to eat a regular meal and those that are not able to eat a full meal and are limited to shakes and very small amounts..

MY doc said all people are different...

Hi there-- we were banded the same day. I've been fine up until a few days ago, but I don't think I have any fill. Have my check up on Thurs...

I will say though, that while I can get a lot more food down, I'm still eating a fraction of my pre-band self. Today's lunch was 1/2 chicken/avocado sandwich from Pret and 10oz gazpacho. Probably could have stopped before finishing the second 1/2 slice bread cause I was really full, but I don't think I should be able to eat that much...

I went to doctor today for month check up

He stated that the band was still "tight" and no fill today

I cannot eat alot of foods yet...I tried chicken, back pain...I did some chili and had pain fror 5 hours and he said that this is normal....

Just want to eat some real food....I am getting scared to eat....as the back pain is so painful at times...

Today I had yogurt with soe granola in it(the granola was all mashed up and in the yogurt and a cup of clam chowder(minus eating the clams)....

He said that chicken is the worst offender of giving us pain...that fish was a much better choice as fish is more moist.....I have placed the chicken in soup...that has helped a bit

I wish I was losing weight like some of you! I'm hovering at around 5 pounds lost since surgery, and I need a fill! I can eat pretty much what ever I want, but slightly less than before the band, which is probably why I haven't gained.

I have a fill scheduled for about 10 days for now, and I can't wait!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
