Im So Excited, I Will Be Banded March 23, 2012!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

So I am so excited yet scared! January 1st, I signed on for PPO insurance with Anthem Blue Cross just in case I decided to try again for the LapBand procedure. I had a *** before (Kaiser) who wanted me to go weightloss management classes for 6 months and a bunch of other stuff. When I got the PPO insurance, I called a weightloss clinic and began my journey. To my surprise, I was approved the very first time! I began my testing and now I am scheduled for my procedure on March 23rd!

The bad part is that with the PPO insurance, I am not required to go to the dietician or counseling of any sort. With that being said, I am a bit nervous because I have not talked with anyone about this life changing journey.

I have paid for the whole surgery out of pocket and the only thing I was required to do was get a psychiatric evaluation. I was wondering why these other people I had been reading about went on a pre-op diet and I didn't have to. My surgery is scheduled for March 13th and I am terrified.

I had to do a 6 month class that my work health benefits office offers - it was actually a good class. I already "knew" what we learned but because I really needed to understand and use it (and am MOTIVATED to do that) - it was a good experience for me. I think this website offers great resources and references. If you haven't gotten the book BANDWAGON - do! Jean MacMillan is a member on this site, and wrote it.

GOOD LUCK to you both, I have surgery the 20th!

I'm schedualed for March 23rd also. I started my approval process in October last year and JUST got my date the other day. I have researched and read. Shopped and stockpiled. I am ready for this! The only thing I have left to do, is fill my fridge and freezer with pre-made meals for my kids to have while I'm recovering. Good luck to you and I wish you a smooth surgery and recovery. If you need a buddy in this journey, I'm here!

Think Thin!

No you can not usually pick a date but it does seem to go faster than the people with insurance. I also think of this as a gift to myself. The gift of life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
