It's Official-I'll Be Banded March 1St!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello friends! I am so excited right now that I can't hardly sit still! I am scheduled to be banded March 1st by Dr. John Weaver in CO. I am 31 yrs old and live in Blue Springs, MO, so I'll be driving 9 hrs. The great part is that my in-laws are going as well, so we are making a 5 day mini-vacation out of the deal. I've never seen the mountains, so I'm super stoked! We have 4 kids that keep me VERY busy, 3 in school. I have the best husband a girl could ask for, but when it came to being banded, he was very hesitant. He likes the "fluff". Well, the "fluff" has worn out its welcome. I've been fighting my weight all my life, and am now at 225lbs. I've been able to lose weight in the past (for God's sake I could prob write a book on diet and nutrition) but never had the willpower to keep it off. So...here I am, now accepting the fact that I need help. I need something to physically stop this addiction. My mind is in a good place, and I'm ready to commit. I had my consult with Dr. Weaver this morn by phone, and tmrw morn is with the nutritionist, Paula. I start my pre-op diet Thurs of no carb/high Protein. Everyone there is AMAZING and sooo helpful. I'm not another number. I will keep posting as my journey continues!

That's an important thing, to have your "mind in the right place" I know I wasn't the first time my lapband was scheduled. Second time, there was much better. Sounds like you are on your way to becoming a bandster!

I just have to say, I love this site and the encouragement everyone's stories give me. I know it's not ALL roses, but it's much easer with a bunch of hands to hold! Thanks all!

Doing well. Day 5 of my pre-op diet. I'm literally DYING without my carbs! I have lost 4 lbs since starting it tho. I spoke with Dr. Weaver last Mon, and Paula the nutritionist on Tues. I'm leaving a week from tomorrow, and guess who's ALREADY PACKED? Yeah, I'm THAT excited. Leaving for CO a week from tmrw. Already shopped for post-surgery needs, and now on the hunt for unflavored Protein Powder. Super de duper excited! Come on March 1st!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
