JudyCh1946, thank you and I've made it to the other side. So far feeling really pretty good. The worst of my pain is in the left shoulder from the gas. I'm having issues with my couch and recliner they both sit very deep and make it almost impossible for me to get on them....I have taken a nap not really eating much yet did have some broth when I got home it helped with the sore throat from the tube they put down my throat. My doctor told me that he found a hyatial hernia and he fixed it while he was in there...(I know I butchered that word) Here's to feeling better tomorrow. Peace and Love :)

its really good to hear how well you are doing. so you had a hernia as well?? it seems that most patients do have one. yes, heres to feeling better tomorrow.. im sure you will. keep us informed about your progress and what you are managing to eat etc.

thanks.. im up and down like a yo yo.. cant help feeling guilty about having to have it done.. so many surgeries over the years and...' yep.. she's in for another one..'' i wish others could walk a mile in my shoes. one minute im excited the next down in the dumps over it all. not feeling all that confident that the weight is going to come off.. theres so much swinging on it all.

Judych: I have confidence in you! I was told that I am too fat for the band, that there was no way this would work on me. I am determined to make it work. IF in 2 yrs and the weight is not off, I can at least say I did everything I was suppose to do and I didn't create the roadblocks for myself. It won't be b/c of me that I fail. Maybe those people are right, I might fail but I am going to give it 110% .. I have been up and down with diets all my life, I have lost weight, gained weight, maintained, gained again. But this weight issue, isn't going to get me! (now ask me in a week and I might be on a low and regret it stage but for now I'm up and going to keep going)

Yvonne.. thanks for this. i hear what yo uare saying.. so you have had negative comments made to you?? was it professional people who made those remarks to you?? or others?? anyway, whoever it was, you have the right attitude. Yes, if we give it 110 percent we will be able to stand and say'' we have done all we can do'.. and thats the most important thing of all. i guess with most of us its the confidence level as well, which is damaged a lot through being overweight and unwell. i know how much mine has eroded over the years through weight. im starting to wonder too how much my husband understands about the entire process. he tends to shut off sometimes ... sheer habit, no offense intended by him im sure, but he does. i see it happening. well, when ive been talking about it and trying to explain i dont think he ''got it''. this morning when i was talking about the fills and how it works to keep in the green zone, his eyes opened up and he said..'' how often does this fill thing go on?/ for the rest of your life? "" .. and i could see that he was wondering if he was in for a ride he didnt want to go on. lol. anyway, its happening, its going to be very successful and i know we will look back and say..." what were we concerned about?? '' lol. i will be glad when im through the immediate post op stage and on my way. what about you?/ How much would you like to lose?? ive forgotten, sorry ... i need to lose up to 90 lbs.

Have confidence in yourself, you have a lot of support here. Although, I'm not sure I will lose the weight and keep it off, I can say I tried. There are no guarantees with any weight loss program, but with a lot of support I believe that its possible. Remember people are always gonna talk, we are here for you. Be excited about this change in your life and let no one take it from you. Be positive, we all have doubts over if this will work or not so you are not alone. Its our time to feel happy and confident. You can do this, just stay focused.

i hear you... yes, thats most important, to stay focused. you know?? ive had nearly 20 surgeries since i was 15 on my legs, all bone surgeries. ive gotten over them all, its taken up to a year sometimes but in the end i was ''normal'' again. with this though, its a total life change. no going back, so to speak. know what i mean?/ so as big as the bone surgeries were, they really were nothing in comparison to this one. even with all the surgeries ive had im stepping out now into unknown territory. i need the adrenalin to start pumping again, lol, i always loved a challange. this sure is going to be one. Thanks so much for your support.. and that goes for everyone here. i do appreciate it so much . i couldnt do this without support from this forum, thats for sure.

I have been looking for this blog, sharing my experience with others having lap band surgery at the same time. I am scheduled for 3/20. I started my boost yesterday And my belly rumbles all day long. I even dreamed about food last night. But I am so looking forward to this and nervous at the same time. I try to avoid blogs about people having problems.

How is everyone else doing

.. so your op is next tuesday?? way to go. and you are on a pre diet?? i hope that all goes well. i know what you mean about dreaming of food. lol. i dont know why i do though. ive never had to diet for my operation.

I started with a 54 now I'm 48 and surprisingly I got it form the doctors the wanted me to try the sleeve I kind of feel like it was a scare tackett that backed fired because its only pushed me harder to succeed

First Dr told me that I would not lose enough weight in 1 yr to be considered a success. He said it would not help with my diabetes nor my high blood pressure. He said I needed to do the sleeve.. Dr #2 said I needed to do the bypass b/c my bmi was above 50 and refused to see me again until I lost weight to get below 50. Dr #3 told me that if I wanted the band to work then it was up to me. He could put the band in and I held the controls. He said success depends on me. Guess which doctor I went with? yup, #3.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
