Im 5 days into my preop diet and having surgery on the 29th, I'm an emotional mess, isn't about surgery just overly sensitive about everything. Anyone else had this happen to them?

I 100% can relate. I literally minutes ago told my husband my emotions are everywhere. I'm on day 3 and have a headache and slight nausea the whole time. I cant believe food had that big of hold on me...now its just pissed and doing what it can to make me shove food in. We can do this!!! We have to push through it, we are in it till the end.

Good luck!

Totally normal! I was the same way...you would have thought I was pregnant again...my emotions were sooo out of control.

It gets better, you can do it! Just keep thinking about the outcome, it's so worth it. I think I was better around the 7 day mark.

I can relate with all of you. I am on day 4 of pre-op which is the Optifast and I am feeling weak & very emotional. My hubby doesn't quiet understand what is going on. I have tired to explain to him that going from about 2000 calories to 800 calories a day is a drastic change on a persons body. I know it's only going to get better day to day. Hang in there everyone, WE CAN DO THIS..... Surgery date is 2/16/12

Hi there,

I am sympathetic - it can be alarming to have emotions spilling out all over the place. And at the same time it is not surprising - when you take the lid off, that all those emotions come up looking for attention and expression. So be patient and kind to yourself - it will get easier.

Two suggestions - one is give those emotions some space and attention to come up - tell a friend, write about them or have a cry without worrying about it. The other suggestion is to get a hold of the book "Mindfulness for Dummies". There are a lot of useful exercises in it about how to just be with yourself and stay present to what is going on as a way of calming down.

I didn't have a preop diet, but a week before surgery, I went from being excited to scared/nervous/freaking out. I could cry at thr drop of a hat and for any reason. I don't know ehy some things triggered that reaction in me, but be easy on yourself. It is a huge change we are going through. You could be going through detox, too. My first week post op has been a detox from all the junk unwashed eating before surgery, and has been emotional at times. Losing 15 lbs in 6 days makes up for it though! You can do it!!

Yes! I was a mess not only the week before but the week after surgery. My emotions were all over the place! Happy and excited one moment, scared to death the next, constantly questioning myself and my decision. It was truly an emotional roller coaster!

I am happy to report that now, a month later, I'm very happy and so glad I did this.

Just hang in there a little longer, it gets tons better :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
