How Much Did You Lose In First Weeks?

Recommended Posts

I started pre-op testing Nov. 10, 2011, banded Dec. 7, 2011 and am now about 5 weeks post-op, have had one fill of 1.5cc and have lost 25 lbs as of this morning! I'm sure you can be rockin' it by July :)

Hi! My husband and I were banded on Dec 19, 2011. In just over 3 weeks I have lost 29 lbs and My husband has lost close to 40. 1 week after the surgery I started walking 1-4 miles a day. We're not allowed to do anything other than that right now. But I can't wait to start hitting the gym harder

My husband on the other hand doesn't work out as much as I do, but his resting metabolism rate is ridiculous ... I think it was 2,800 or something like that. So he's really doing well.

A whole bunch came off in the first week or two and now my weight loss has slowed down to about 2-3 lbs a week.

Wow, that is encouraging! You guys are doing fabulously! It is scary thinking about the things that could go wrong- like food getting stuck, regurg/reflux, etc. But most of you seem to be doing well without all these problems, which makes me worry a little less.

I was banded on 12/30 and I've lost 17 lbs. I'm walking on the treadclimber for 30 minutes every day and just graduated to "mushies". Aside from the gas pains the first few days (which are normal) and feeling too full the first time I ate, I haven't had any problems at all (knock on wood).

I was really apprehensive, too, but it honestly isn't that bad - and its one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I was banded on 12/30 and im down 20lbs. I'm just now hitting solids and my work out routine has been limited. I'm sure when I get over the sore spots ill lose more weight. But ATM I'm taking it easy. I got hit in the tummy by accident and I'm a little bruised up.

I have a over 150 lbs to lose, and I have read that with Lap Band you dont lose as high of a percentage of your excess weight as you would with bypass, but I am dead set against something so evasive...so I have chosen lap-band. My doc wants the weight off quick because its causing lots of probs with my back and knees..but I am confident that once i get the first 40-50 lbs off, I can keep myself working out and eating the right portions and food choices to get the rest off. Maybe not as quickly but still quicker than If i didnt get the kickstart with the surgery. Reading what most ppl have lost in the first month or two, is very exciting and makes me that much more certain that the LB will work for me! Thanks

Becky

I was banded on 12/13 and have lost 33 pounds. I think you will do just fine and be ready for your vacation in July. Just don't get discouraged if you don't drop as much as some of us everyone is different but you WILL get there. Good luck with your surgery

Between the pre-op liquids and stuff, I lost a good 30lbs pretty fast. But then it slows dramatically once you start solid food.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
