How Many Days Of Work Did You Miss after Lap band Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I say if you have sick time take your whole two weeks, I did, I had a hernia repaired, and truthfully I was not ready to go back before two weeks. I am blessed to have a good job, and sick time, so I was able to concentrate on healing.

I'm on my feet 10 hour shifts, and I took one week. Had surgery Monday, back on Monday. Though Tuesday and Wednesday are my scheduled days off, so I had 2 days off after my one day back. But I felt pretty well. Started getting really bored by day 4. I felt I could've gone back sooner. I even shoveled myself out through a foot of snow to get to work that monday. Though I know if I had called my supervisor she would've been fine with me staying home. I just needed to go back to work, I was SOOO bored.

I was banded on Tuesday 11-22-11, stayed overnight in the hospital, I was out and about by Saturday, and went back to work on the following Tuesday (just took Monday off for a me day!).

I had my last band last January 11th! I believe that was a Tuesday so I took that week off from work. The following Monday was Martin Luther King holiday so I got an extra day. I don't think that 3 days is enough time off...I'd take at least 5. I didnt' have a lot of pain but a little cough or something where you have to tighten your stomach is pretty tender. I think everyone deserves to baby themselves for a week. Good Luck!!!

I'm also a teacher but I had my surgery in June. Had hernia repair also. Went to my assistant principals' dads funeral the next day but I didn't drive there. Getting up and down the first two days or so were rough but once I got up it was easy. My surgery was on a Monday and was almost 100% by Wednesday so if I had to go to work, I would have been ok.

Everyone is different so take what works for you.

I was banded on Friday Dec.th. I was planning on just taking off that Friday and go back to work on Monday. But, I figured I have the time to take off I just went ahead and took a whole week off. Which I think was a great idea. I think I would of been alright to go to work on that Monday but, sure glad I didn't. I got a lot of stuff done for Christmas and lost of needed R&R. Everyone is different. I just mainly felt tired easily and a little pain where my incisions are. Good luck and remember to just listen to your body.

I had my sx Oct 28th and I was out 6 wks cause I am a CNA and I move veteran's and some are 300 lbs plus. I went back and strained moved a stroke victim and felt something pull. So I'm on PRN, secretly hoping to find a different job. I love working with my veteran's, but I'm.not going to hurt myself.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
