Not Sure If This Is Normal Or Not...

Recommended Posts

I was banded 11/22 and have had zero problems with getting anything down, only a little soreness near the port site the first 4 or 5 days, and no problems breathing. I didn't have much at all the first 4 or 5 days, and when the soreness wore off I was able to drink liquids and have now moved on to pureed foods once a day with liquids the rest per the hospital's orders. Is this normal? I feel like I should be having nausea, problems getting things down, etc., and I have had none of this. It's almost scaring me that the band has slipped or something, and I don't have my first appointment until this coming Tuesday.

Anyway else not have any problems at all?

You should not be having problems. You will have problems when your band has slipped, is too tight or you are eating something your band doesn't agree with. It is normal to not have nausea or vomiting. You want things to go down smooth.

Unfortunately all we hear around here are complaints about problems people are having. We don't hear from the

hundreds of folks that have no problems at all. I think you fall into that catagory, consider yourself blessed!

Here's hoping you keep on keeping on.

I had no problems after surgery. I had a little soreness but I took my pain meds. I was out shopping the next day. I went for a 2 mile walk about 4 days after! Sounds like you are doing awesome! Keep up the good work

Strange how we hear all he bad stuff and worry when we are not experiencing it. I too have not vomited ever since my surgery on 11/4. Yeah is all can say about that. I do have a problem that I am worried about, it is about my food's exit. Did any of you experience elimation problems? I am having very frequent BMs with terrible cramping. I have given stool samples to doctor, but am awaiting results.

I believe you are fine. I was exactly the same way. I took a 1/2 dose of pain medicine the night of surgery but I felt completely fine the next day that I went shopping. The only difference was I was a little sleepy for about a week, but other than that everything went great!

If you have a good surgeon and you follow their directions, you should feel exactly as you are feeling. I have never vomited or had one day of problems. I didn't even really have the excruitiating gas pains everyone talks about. Unfortunately, too many on this site do not follow their doctor's instructions, expect the band to be a miracle cure, and then complain about the results.

I have to agree with you here....I followed and continue to follow my Dr.'s orders to the letter and 1 year later I have surpassed his and my expectations. I had the gas but only for a few days...other than that my surgery and recovery was uneventful. To say the past year was without struggles would be untrue however I always refer to my Dr's words on my very first visit as a reminder.... the band will do 70% of the work. To be successfull you need to put forth a 30% effort.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
