Lap Band Surgery Dec 13, Scared From All The Negativity

This is my first post. im 260, a heart pt since 21 and have had several blood clots. All my drs agree I need to have this done, but somehow I have freaked myself out and am scared. I had a woman tell me today that four people have died in the last three months because of lapband.. malnutrition even with the band removed, heart attack, you name it I have heard it.

Yet, no one haas anything positive to say...

Can anyone help me get in the right mind frame??

Quite often the statistics these people quote are from the newspapers and magazines. Mostly they have no idea that there is a difference between a bypass and a lapband, i have recently read 2 articles in our national newspapers relating to a bypass operation and half way through the article they call it a lapband !

The press never report how many people have been helped or saved they just sensationalize those very few who encounter problems.

Good Luck :)

im having my surgery dec 13th too, and im having a positive attitude towards it because i know ive done my homework, i have an excellent surgeon, and i keep reading all these post's for alot of "real person" info. Yes there is a little negative talk, but there is always going be negative talk on any subject. Good luck to you, and i hope we'll both be succesful!
