Would you move where has someone died?

It wouldn't bother me at all, because when you think of it , somebody may have died at any number of places you've lived or worked before and you probably didn't even know it. You may own 2nd hand items , ( a car ? Books ? A coat or furniture ? );the previous owner may of loved them before he/she died, but I doubt if you've experienced anything strange or weird because of it. If you truly love /want the place, go for it ! If possible, find out a little about the person like hobbies and interests, and make a small donation to a charity that she would of liked. ( Animal shelter, Bookmobile, food bank , school supplies , etc ) She probably would of loved it, and you'll feel better about living in a place where somebody "passed on ". My house is about 86 years old, so I'm sure there is a past tenant who possibly passed away here, I just figure they're in the happy places here, mainly the trees and flowers. Just a thought. ( my hubby doesn't like any of that kind of stuff, but so far he's never had a problem living here, 21 years and counting, so , there you go ! Enjoy your new place !!! 2. Oh boy, I hope you have LOTS of drugs to get you through this ! I'm so sorry you have to deal with the pain AND the hospital crap ! If this is any help , your story has been a strange coincidence for me, as I have been dealing with mild pain spreading around my back today, and feeling lousy etc. I did have a minor gallbladder problem 2 years ago, but your story has me keeping my mind open for other possibilities. I see my Dr, in a few days, hoping it's a small problem. Hope your problem gets taken care of SOON, and no more hospital run around ! Keep us posted ! And thanks for the detailed story, I honestly had no idea about kidney stones etc. Eye. Opening. Sending you lots of support !!

    Age is but a number......

I don't think age is so much a concern for me, I'm more curious on other things. Have you done all your homework ? Read everything, talked to others who have had WLS, ask yourself if you're really ready for the big changes that WLS brings ? Mentally, physically and emotionally ? Can you stick to your Dr.s rules 95 % of the time ? Do you have a good patient/ Doctor relationship ? How about eating and socializing for the rest of your life ? Peer pressure ? Future dating ? Others possible negative and uninformed comments ? If you can answer YES to most of these questions, then I say go for it, because you're existing, not living and you deserve so much more than that ! Good luck and keep us posted !!

    Question for vets about sleep

I'm 4 years post op, had breathing problems when I was at normal weight ( found out many years later I had a broken nose from a childhood accident ) and slept with a C-pap machine for sleep apnea after I gained so much weight . ( Can you spell "attractive? ") I was always tired ! 5 months after lap band the sleep apnea was gone ! Woo hoo ! Now if I don't sleep through the night its because of hot flashes etc , but if I do sleep well its usually 10 :30 or 11pm bedtime, and up at 6-6:30. Shower , hot tea and I'm good to go !! Hopefully you'll not be so exhausted once you lose the weight, exercise helps a lot too ! Good luck !

    A convenient healthy protein discovery

These aren't chicken pattys, but you might want to look at Bruce Adele chicken apple sausage. Amazing flavor, not greasy /oily at all. Beyond good !! Also comes in 2 or 3 other flavors, try Traders joes, Costco or grocery stores. They come precooked, so really easy to separate them into individual serving size, then just take them out of the freezer the night before and microwave for a minute or 2. Mmmmmmmmmmm

    Best Grocery Store Finds!

This is not a "grocery store find " but it's kinda a food find ! I kept reading about an India drink called "Golden milk " made with an amazing spice called Turmeric ( found in grocery or health food stores ). Supposed to be one of the best for everything from inflammation , insomnia, Alzheimers to killing cancer cells etc. Every night before bedtime warm on the stove (NOT microwave , and NOT hot ) 1/2 cup milk, any kind, 1/4 th tsp EACH of Turmeric ,black pepper, and cinnamon.. Pour into a cup and add 1-2 tsp of real honey and stir until disolved. Drink warm. I've been sleeping much, much better !! Google Golden milk or Turmeric for more info.
  8. Am I treated better since I lost weight ? Oh, heck yes ! Sad but true. As one poster said , suddenly I'm more "acceptable ", but also I'm happier and that comes across to others . I also put in more effort to look attractive, paying attention to my clothes, makeup and hair etc. So, combine looking better, a happier personality, and a positive attitude , well that's just plain attractive ! Guy or girl, small or large, that's just going to make others treat you better. I have no control over how some people treat others, I just make sure I'm treating others nicely .
  9. Geeeesh ! Sorry you had such a crappie day ! Not sure if this will help, but since you're a "sensory "person , how about some things that relax/comfort you and aren't food related ? Learn to knit , crochet or sew and make soft squares for knitted baby blankets for a local hospital. . Make washable fleece blankets for the local animal shelter. How about hats for the homeless ? See if a special needs group or daycare needs homemade Playdough, fingerpaints, etc. You get the picture. Volunteer when you can in a place that you happy and comfortable, everybody wins ! Good luck !!
  10. Geez, I don't know what to say except he's never going to change, he's always going to look for someone to take his frustrations out on. He also seems to have an extremely short fuse, a closed mind, and a big , hurtful mouth. Since HE won't ever change, YOU may have to change the way you respond. If he's yelling or accusing, tell him when he's ready to calmly discuss something, you'll listen and not until then. Walk . Away. Tell him "I'm making positive changes to get out of debt etc, let me know when you're doing the same. " Walk. Away. And by the way, you should be VERY proud of yourself for the positive changes you have made so far !! We all have limitations, challenges and problems, but you're trying to overcome them through positive thoughts and hard work !! You have A LOT to be proud of , so keep it up ! Whether he likes it or not, you're succeeding a little bit at a time by moving forward, he just yells and moves towards the nearest bar. Nuff'said . Hope things get better for you soon ! Hugs !!!!
  11. Hi, I don't have any idea where in Western Washington you are, but if you're anywhere near Olympia, I highly recommend my lap band surgeon Dr. William Neal. He and his staff are top notch !! I'm 4 years post op, and I still feel incredibly lucky that not only did I have the insurance to pay for the surgery, but had a caring and professional team to help along the way. Good luck to you !!!
  12. I honestly don't think your classroom of little kids even need to know about your upcoming surgery, I think you would be opening up a completely unnecessary can of worms. They're too young to understand the details and they would likely go home and ask a lot of questions that their parents likely won't know the answers to, so I would just tell them something easier to absorb. Your kids ? "Mommy has been having some problems digesting food, so the Dr.s going to make it all better, and I'll have to really rest for a week and take care of the bandages etc. Easy. Good luck !!!

"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...

I ve never seen the shows you're talking about, but as I cant stand 99% of ANY type of reality show, I'll take a pass. Oprah ?? I like her, but as someone pointed out, why would WW be any different /better for her than the hundreds of other "diets" that shes been on over the years ? Oprah herself admits that shes tried "everything", im trying to get why WW is going to make her a "better body !? Anyhooo, the one and only "diet" that I went on was WW for a whole year and following a year long program, lost a whopping 12 lbs. For the whole year....................... WLS ? 50 lbs in 7 months. And just to add insult to injury, the only meeting I could attend was the Saturday 10 am meeting. The same couple was there every. single. time. front row, and EVERY time the leader would say something the husband would volunteer his "experience" surrounding the subject, and usually included his grandchildren that they lived with. Every. time. And the leader wouldnt put a stop to it. I finally gave up.......... Thank you Lap Band for saving me from many things, including a murder charge..................!

    Food wish

I know , I waste some too. I dont know if you're cooking for 1, 2 or more but im cooking just for my hubby and myself. One way that helps is cooking a regular dinner, then packing up the leftovers into the next days lunches. If theres still leftover food, I put it in a tupperware and using blue painters tape and a magic marker, I write the name and date on it. ( Italian chicken, 1-13-16 etc ). Then it goes in a special bin in the fridge marked "Leftovers". It's not a perfect system, but it helps alot !
  18. Amberbo, adopted or not, ALL of your kids are special and perfect !!! 3 out of my 4 kids are adopted !! As I type this im holding my grown adopted daughters 3 month old ( our 1st grand baby !!) and Im madky in love with this little cutie !!! Who cares if shes not our " biological " grandchild ?? Not us ! And yes, my biology went haywire too !! So glad I had WLS to "fix" the problem ! Good luck !!!

    Veterans....#1 thing you miss / don't miss

What do I miss ??????? Hmmmmmm............. Well, I miss raw broccoli, General Tso's chicken with sweet and sour sauce over fried rice from our local Safeway deli and I wish I could eat more than 2 deeeeelicious heavenly coconut shrimp at a time ( from Red Lobster ) . Thats it. Nuthin 'else. ( And yes, some of my nice tush disappeared too !) I sure as hell DON'T miss "living my life on the sidelines " hated looking and feeling awful, tired, no energy, ugly big lady clothes, literally just not "living " , only existing ! Now ?? Lots of energy, health problems gone !!! love to participate in things without embaressment or worry, can go and do most anything, size 8 skinny jeans and other pretty clothes, hubby happy, people who think im attractive, the list goes on and on !!!!

    Distance Running

I was able to get fitred for specially made orthotics by a foot Dr., but he said if I continued to run the arch would weaken even more and I would be possibly looking at surgery when im older. ( Im 57 now ) He said the problem was that by the time I needed surgery (10 years or more ) I might be too old to recover well and so surgery might not be an option at all ! (Double waaaaah !!!) I may see him again this spring to have fluid removed and discuss the situation again. Not only do I miss the physical aspects of running, but I had very proudly started identifying myself as a runner, and suddenly , not any more !! Big disappointment and shock !! So we shall see what this spring brings !! Good luck to all !!!!
  21. Hi there, welcome !!! You'll get lots of different opinions , here's mine.. ..... Best decision ever !!!! The negatives ? I had to rethink how I ate, choose healthy foods most of the time, small bites, chew well, lots of water, exercise minimum 3x a week, fills, following Dr.s rules, reminding myself "progress, not perfection !" Positives ? 80 lbs gone, no more sleep apnea, happy, healthy, size 8 pants, lots of energy and motivation !! Love mirrors, clothes shopping, walking for miles, feeling good from the inside out, compliments, seeing my body get stronger , etc........ my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner ! Being a strong healthy woman and mom is the best gift you can give to yourself and your family, no matter how you do it. Good luck whatever you decide !!!

    Distance Running

Id give my left you no what to be able to run a half marathon, let alone any running at all !! Due to a permanent collapsed arch , this beginning runner was told to stop running, or down the road face possible surgery. (Whimper !! Sniff !! Waaaaaah !) God, do I miss it !!! It was my sanity saver !! So all I can say is take this incredible gift of running that you have , and enjoy every minute of it, because you never know when t will

    Eating out

Ive never had a card but always look for something that is band friendly, not smaller portions as anything I can eat the first time means leftovers for about 2-3 meals. Well worth the full price , I just separate the leftovers into individual containers when I get home and a lunch or dinner is done. If there is still leftovers, well, my dogs are happy !!
