I Am Having A Major Problem, Need Advice!??

Recommended Posts

It has been almost four years since banding. I had great weight loss for the first year and a half. Figured I have maintained 170ish lbs for 3 years I can't get under 169 lbs, now I have started to gain weight. I have been having major pain in my side, my port has moved and the doctor won't see me unless I have cash up frount. I am completly discouraged! I have gained almost 20lbs in 5 months, I have been eating to much, drinking while I eat, if I don't I can only eat 3 bites then I get sick (blocked). What should I do, I need advice. I am irratable, sad, scared as hell I am going to gain this weight back.

I wanted to reply so you do not seem alone in this. My advice to you is to see if another Dr might see you on an emergency basis and let you pay it out.

Also only eat what you are suppose to even if you can eat more, just stop, measure it out. You have worked so hard I do not want you to gain it back.

I know the more experience bandsters will be along soon with the good advice. But you do need to get in and have a flouro and see if everything is okay does not sound like it. Call some more doctors and see if someone will work with you. I think when you have paid so much to your Surgeon he/she should see you. Did you try talking to Dr himself or office manager. Or if you can just go there and demand to be seen. They took your money now you need their help.

I agree he should see you regardless of the money and try to not eat more than you were before. Its hard I think anyone of us that have been banded more than two years have this issue its like starting all over again and again and again but we have worked hard and every day is still a struggle to keep the weight off. You can do it but call your doctor and see if he can see you.

You can request a Copy of your Records with a signed release form.

While you are doing that and waiting, start looking for a New Surgeon.

If you tell them you are all messed up like I was ! The response that I got was "NO SURGEON WILL TOUCH SOMEONE ELSE'S JUNK !"

So I told them I moved, and I found a surgeon to look at the whole thing under Fluoroscope.

Anyway nothing wrong with the band ! that a adjustment couldn't fix, and I did regain almost all of it.

So my advice to you is what I said, and move on it.

Shirley.

Thank you all so much for your advice! I finally have the money to see my doc, now I am just embarrassed I guess. I stated a new thread too. Just so frustrated! I hope the doc can fix this :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
