My Story in just 2 pictures

November 2010 just before surgery and November 2011 (the handsome young man is my wonderful son). I still have some way to go but the end is near.

Recently diagnosed with macular degeneration of the eyes I have been forced to give up all strenuous forms of exercise or give up my sight earlier than anticipated - I have had to do this the very hard way with just diet, walking and the band.

Good luck to everyone on your personal journeys

Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia

You are such an inspiration. Thank-you for sharing. I hope you have sight for a long time. I am sight impaired so I know from experience how challanging this can be.

Thanx everyone - it has been a most remarkable journey and I am happy to have been able to compete in it

Everyone is commenting that I no longer look my age (so close to 60 it is not funny!!!)

I can do things now that I have not been able to do for the best part of 30 years

Being banded in Indonesia where I live was not an issue - I have a most remarkable and caring medical team behind me. Everyone from the admin staff, Doctors and even the cleaning staff address me by name every time I go for a checkup - and it is a HUGE hospital

It seems that I am the success story and poster pin up boy of the year for them

With respect to my vision - it is now only a matter of when not if. Luckily it is only very bad in one eye so I will remain partially sighted for some time to come

I am contemplating adding a patch and a parrot to my ensemble - for that very nautical look

Already I can do a very good "Arrrrrrgggghhhhh - Jim Lad" impression that completely mystifies all of my Indonesian friends (most never having heard of Treasure Island)

Many thanx and much love to my wife and children for their undying support for all of my troubles. Without you I would never be the man I am today. My heart for you always

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
