Hi guys, my name is Germaine and i'm 42 and have 2 boys 18 and 4. My surgery date is Dec 16th and i'm excited and nervous. I've been on this site almost everyday for the past month reading as much as i can. Next week at this time i will be waking up with my new friend. I'm trying to think of a cool name for my band, haven't thought of anything yet. Good luck to all you guys and i'll keep each and every one of you in my prayers that all goes well...

My surgery is the 15th. I am very excited. I too wished I had done this years ago. The reason I join this group also is for inspiration and to know what to expect. I look forward everyday to getting on here and reading everyone POSITIVE report. I try to stay away from the negatives.

Congratulations on the approval! I was banded on May 25, 2011. I am glad I did. I am losing very slowly, but I have never gained. That is improvement over the past. I have gone from obese to overweight. My blood pressure medication is down from four per day to two. The goal is no medication!

Keep us informed as you prepare for surgery and after.

I was also banded on 12/6. I have a 10cc lap-band.

I was allowed my first purée today and I chose applesauce. I didn't finish the 3oz. I was just done after about 1.5oz.

Tomorrow is my first day back at work. I'm a little worried about the gas because I'm a teacher. I'm sure I'll have the kindergarteners on hysterics. I already have my entire menu for tomorrow set aside. For Breakfast is a bolthouse farms

Protein Drink.

Morning snack is 4oz small curd cottage cheese. lunch is puréed black Beans. Afternoon snack will likely be applesauce or Protein drink. dinner is homemade potato Soup.

I'm so excited to move away from clear liquids! Yay!

Hello everyone,

I'm scheduled to have a lap band w/plication on Dec 19th. I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet, I'm starting to crave all the sweets I used to eat!! Physically, I'm not hungry, but emotionally I could eat Christmas Cookies all day!! Hope everyone is having better luck than me!!

I got banded on 12/6 I had lost 16 pounds on the pre-surgery diet. But gained 11 pounds the 36hrs in the hospital. I was 278 the day I got home from the hospital. I know it had to do alot with swelling and the IVs today I am 262. Most of the swelling is down.

Up and down with the pain. Not a lot of engery, not sure how I am going to make it through my first day of work tomorrow. I have no desire to eat at all. Have to force myself to drink a protien drink and a 1/4 cup cream of wheat a day. Plus forcing myself to drink a lot of Water. I actually had Tomato Soup today to so that helped since today I actually had hunger pains.

I am still pretty bruised up, but figure those will take about a week or more to fade. Over all I am doing a lot better then I had expected.

Isn't that the best feeling!! Knowing that finally you have this tool to help you do what you have been trying to accomplish your entire life alone!! I am one week post op and am finally feeling like myself today. I really haven't lost much since my surgery though, I think I haven't been drinking enough Water, it's much harder to drink the water I normally drink. I guess cause I get full so quick. Oh well slow and steady wins the race!

Good luck to all having surgery this week!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
