Sept 2011 bandsters

Hi Guys,

I got my lap band on Sept 15 - I felt great up to now ... however last night I started feeling muscular type pains in my stomach (at the top center incision area) everytime I move - this may have been caused from me moving too quickly. I am wondering if anyone has felt similar type pains.

I've gained 2 lbs in 2 days. It's nowhere near my time of the month. I haven't had another cheat day. Not really doing anything different. I've actually upped my work outs. I'm about to take a pregnancy test cause I haven't been this up and down since I was pregnant. There is no way I'm pregnant but I'll make sure I'm not.

Need2lose--i was given an antinausea medicine in my iv that makes oral bc non effective. I was told this during my preop appt and the day of surgery. I had yo sign a document saying I understood this.I do not remember the name of the med bc my dh has a vasectomy so thats no an issue for us.

My favorite mushies -- ff refried beans with melted cheese on top. And low fat ricotta cheese with marinara on top, baked til bubbly then top with mozz cheese. I am no longer on mushies and still eat this. I think when i make spaghetti for my famy i will have this but will had ground meat for protein.

Thank you. Hmm, when i told the nurse that i was feeling nausseous (they were supposed to give me something in preop but someone forgot...), she gave me something in my IV but didn't say anything about what you were told. We'll have to figure something out.

I am experiencing major itching around all the incisions. Anyone have this problem? Should i be concerned?

Itching is good! It means you're healing! Don't scratch!

Thank you! There are a few rash bumps around some of them. I'm not scratching the actual incisions, just the surrounding areas cuz it's annoying!! :)

I am 3 weeks and four days post op and I am down another 2 pounds with a total weight loss of 21 pounds, I am eating regular foods and just learning to master the art of chewing. Wishing everyone a productive week! My goal is two pounds for next Sunday.

My goal is just to not gain. I'm 6 weeks out. Gaining 2 lbs this week.

Mine itched like crazy!!!!! The only thing I could do was to put ice on them because I could have itched myself insane! Once the glue came off it went away.

WELCOME BACK JASON! here is a website I use to go to free online support groups http://www.stopobesityforlife.com/schedule, there is one tomorrow at 7pm online. Good luck!

Hi Everyone! I'm Jason and I'd like to join the group.

Here's the twist. I was banded in December 2009. Issue is that it was completely devoid of any saline and was never filled until 2 days ago. The surgeon believed waiting 6 months before the first fill and in that time I lost my job and also my insurance.

I'm thankful that I found a new job last summer and I love it, but it's a small company and the insurance covers NOTHING regarding the lap bands, not fills, not the doctor's visit, not even the cup of water they give you when you walk out the door.

So, I'm finally filled. I have the "big" lap band (14cc's I think) and he put 5.5 cc's in there under a fluroscope. He said with that, I should feel very uncomfortable if I continue to eat like I've been.

2 nights before I went to a Sushi buffet and closed the place down. I've had ZERO restriction and could eat unlimited amounts of anything. Right now I'm on yogurt and pudding and tomorrow I can start with blended stuff. (or just scrambled eggs since there's NO WAY I'm blending food)

Sad thing is that the day of surgery I weiged 290. The post op, mostly liquid and no carb diet brought me down to 251 at my lowest in March 2010.

As of 2 days ago I was 319. That's a gain of 68 pounds since surgery. Needless to say, I'm ashamed. I've been able to save up over the last year and have found a new surgon who will take credit cards so I'm paying for follow up myself. This is motivator #2 or 3 for me.

So for all intents and purposes, it's like I was just banded but worse because I don't remember the protocol very well. I found a new surgeon. I finally have fluid in my band, and I'm scared to death of what lies ahead. The new sugeon's support groups start up again in 3 weeks so this site is all I've got.

Please adopt me. :)

...and.... if anyone can tell me if oatmeal and or cream of wheat is a "heavy liquid" or a "mushie", that would be awesome.

If anyone has any threads that are favorites, please let me know those too.

I have to succeed. I'm 36 years old, fat, diabetic. have apnea and a 3 year old daughter I want to be around for.

Help....please.

Thanks

Jason

Ok. Glad to hear it's not just me! I got an email from the PA saying what Brynne said. The itching is from the incisions healing and the rash type bumps are probably just from the surgical glue/tape that they used to cover the incisions. Let me tell you guys, i feel like i have like 100 mosquitio bites or poison ivy on my stomach. It's so uncomfortable!!! No one ever said anything about this

The only incision that still itches ALOT is the biggest one. The others are healed and cause me no issues.

Just had to give all of you a chuckle....

I went to the gym yesterday and wanted to weigh myself on the scale that is like the ones in a doctor's office. I ensured it was balanced before I began and stepped on it. I started at 300 mark and that was obviously too heavy. Woohoo! I'm under 300. So, I slid the weight to 250 and started moving the smaller marker up.....I got to 298....299...and it showed me too light. So, I've concluded that I don't weigh anything. LOL (actually my weight is like 299.2 and the scale just won't register it until I firmly get under 300) But, it gave me a laugh.

Have a good day everyone. I'm off to the gym.
