Hello fellow Bandsters

Recommended Posts

So I am back on the messageboards... because I need the support of those who know only what this experience is like.

Basically, I will be coming upon my 2 year bandiversary in November. I have only lost 30 lbs total and that was within the first 3 months post-op. I did have other medical issues not related to the band within the first year of post-op which causes major set backs as far as getting fills and continuely losing. However, I was finally able to get a 3rd fill right after my 1 year anniversary for my surgery. I have not had a fill since this time (mainly due to changes in insurance and cost).

Since then... I have been losing the same 5 lbs and regaining. I do admit I have seriously committed to the band or weight loss up until this past July/August. At first I felt like a complete failure with the band but now that I re-read and see what happened in the 1st year post-op, that really wasn't my fault. And it didn't help comparing myself to others, they didn't deal with what I did in the first year.

So here I am again........ in search of my new-found motivation to jump back into the ways of being a bandster and losing the weight I planned to lose almost 2 years ago.

Currently, I am back on track with the rules... and choosing the good foods, although I have my moments. I have started using myfitnesspal.com and managed to do right with getting at least 72-96oz of Water in a day. I started exercising but hurt my knee... and have lost some of my mojo... I definitely can use support from others dealing with the struggles daily...

I want to lose this weight for good...

Good for you! I admire your persistence.

I am new at this and cannot help you from experience. However, I recommend aquatics for exercise - low impact Water aerobics.

Best wishes

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
