I had surgery on 6/20/2011 and normally I weigh in on Tuesdays. When I weighed on Tuesday I was half a pound away from losing 50 lbs. So I weighed myself today and I have lost 50 lbs! I am so excited. I have also dropped 2 dress sizes! I am SO happy with my band!

Congrats...I was banded on 6/20/11 as well and am very happy with the band too. I do not have any Fluid in mine yet though....tomorrow is my weigh-in day. I hope I have the same or at least close success that you are having! Keep up the good work!

How in the heck have you lost 50 lbs in 10 weeks??? OMG, are you starving yourself and exercising to death???? Please do tell, I need some major motivation. I was banded on July 15th and am only down 20lbs. I think 10 of that was the week of only liquids before my actual surgery. I expected to have lost more or at least a steady 2-3 lbs per week. Ughhh, I have been at the same 20 lbs for 2 weeks now. I don't feel any restriction, even after my first fill at 4 weeks. I was really hoping that the Band would physically make it impossible to overeat or eat the wrong foods. Please share with me some of the things you do to have had such a successful first 2 months. Keep up the great work.

Honestly, no I'm not starving myself, and I don't exercise like I should at all (my goal this month is to work out more). I had had 2 fills and an unfill. I don't have the best restriction, but have some. I have another fill on 9/16. I keep track of everything I eat using myfitnesspal.com. It really helps me to see everything I'm eating. I usually stay under 800 calories a day and relatively low carb (75g/day or less most of which comes from fruits, veggies, nuts, and whole grains.). 13 of mine was the week after surgery and then I only lost like 2 lbs until my first fill which is when it really started coming off. The band will not make you quit eating, you have to listen to your body and stop when you are satisfied. It also won't make it impossible to eat certain foods. Some people keep a really tight band, but I don't like it. I can eat anything, but choose not to eat certain things. Also, watch the liquid calories. You have lost 20 lbs in 8 weeks (including your pre op), so that averages to 2.5 lbs a week, and the "average" is 1-2 lbs a week. You are doing great, don't compare yourself to other people, this is your journey and yours alone!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
