Nervous about my 4th fill

Recommended Posts

So I guess a little background information will help

Beginning weight 280 10/22/2010

Surgery date: 2/14/2011

Current weight 231

I have 4 cc in my band.

I was originally banded in Richmond, VA, however had to relocate to NYC for a new and exciting job I landed. I am now seeing Dr. Fielding at NYU Langone and was seeing Dr. Kellum at MCV/VCU Health Systems.

When I went to my first appointment with my new doctor, he put 2 cc in my band making it 4.5. Within 10 days I had lost 11 lbs and just wans't really able to eat. My hectic schedule kept me from going back to the dr. and when I finally did they said I was super malnutritioned and not doing so well.

Here I am now with 4 cc in my band and doing well with eating and losing weight. When I went to the dr. I was 236. So I lost 4 lbs since that appointment on July 22nd.

I am so nervous about getting another fill because if 4.5 was too much for me to handle, how do I know this won't be too much for me to handle? Should I ask for a certain amount? I'm not sure what I should do right now and am really scared that if they make me tighter, I'll have issues again. They only took out .5 cc the last time. How do I prevent this from backfiring on me?

do you need a fill yet? If you are eating well, have satiety and are losing weight then you could ask dr to delay a fill until you need it. Your Dr should ask these questions and discuss it with you before doing anything. And you have the right to refuse a fill or ask for a smaller one than offered. Good luck.

I agree I think you have some say so in the fill department. Also, you don't have to suffer from an overfill-just get some taken out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
