Okay I have read everyone's comment and this is coming from a person who has spent a lot of researching not only the hcg diet but I have also studied hormones affects on the body in college. I am not trying to being judging or say anything that isn't based on scientific data I have learned. Hcg diet uses a small about of the hcg hormone women product while prego, meaning in proportion to what their bodies produce daily it is small. Hcg is used to diet nutrients mainly sugar away from the body to the fetus, meaning your body will have a higher sugar if it not consumed by a fetus. While you will burn an extra 2500-3500 calories a day, it does put an increase strain on the heart. It is not true that there are no side effects, there are several and you should read up on them, mainly heart issues. Yes the hormones are natural, but all hormones are and can be deadly if out of control (example steroids and thyroid hormones). However that being stated all diet pills or hormones in this case carry along side it dangerous side effects in a small proportion of those taking them. If you chose these you should tell your Dr and have blood work done, which will indicate if you having on of these side effects. I am not a Dr and neither is anyone who has posted. Be upfront with Dr, so he can check if it will affect any other medications you may be on. That being stated, I wish you luck and I think anything you choose is your choice and should respected by others. Do your research and you will be fine.

Also there is very little independent research claims made by hcg diet and other diet pills. No journals support these claims, but usually claim that the fat loss is due to the 500 calorie intake. That is just based on the independent studies.

Started my hcg injections last Tuesday Feb. 21 and did not even do the diet right I've been eating what I want just in way smaller portions just like the band....I started at 194 where I have been stuck at for a month and 4 days later I am 187.0. I am not depriving myself i eat the same way I did before and the weight is still coming off. Just a little update for all you people who doubted me! Thanks for the support!

I know that I take hormones for Thyroid. My Dr. has me in there every 6 months to check blood levels. Too much is no good, and not enough is no good. So it has to be Monitored.

I hope you are under Dr.'s care so it can be Monitored, Hormones can be strange, and a specialist is best to deal with it.

I heard that there was another form of HCG that is much cheaper in the clinics that is given once a week. This type of HCG is not like the 500 cal hcg diet. It may be the same stuff (I don't know) but you do NOT have to be on a starvation diet

I believe that being banded for 2 1/2 yrs and still need to lose 25-30 lbs in order to reach goal and haven't lost any weight in a year is worth giving this milder version a try. At least for 30 days. Some of us struggle a little more than others. But if you're newly banded, you may do well w/o trying the hcg.

Thanks for the info. I was going to post that thyroid is a natural hormone. If extra is taken by someone who is at a normal thyroid level it will speed up their metabolism and help them to lose weight. My thyroid was overproducing thyroid hormone. Does that mean I should have left it and kept my metabolism high?

No, of course not, along with the possible weight loss came high blood pressure, a resting heart rate of 120, sleepless nights, and twitching muscles.

Just because it is a hormone and occurs naturally, does not mean it belongs in the body at all times.

I don't know much about HCG. Other than it is a hormone produced during pregnancy. My opinion, for me....I am not pregnant, I don't think I should have that hormone in my body.

But, there are some band docs that will prescribe appetite suppressants for use until you get your band dialed in.

So it's ok to take addictive pills? Because I know that most appetite Suppressants are highly addictive aka speed. Hcg is not for everyone I understand this...if you don't believe in taking in stuff that doesn't belong in your body then I think Lapband would not have even crossed your mind. I also understand people have their opinions but I doubt I will get heart disease in just one month of use. Hopefully not anyway :)

My comment about suppressants was in relation to someone saying their doc was against HCG because he or she could not make money on it. Just providing food for thought in the discussion.

We each have to find what works for us. I have and have had plenty of chemicals in my body that are not naturally occurring, including radiation to kill my thyroid. IMO their benefits outweigh their risks. It is a decision we all must make.

As I said, I don't know enough about HCG to have an opinion either way. I am at goal. If I weren't, my thoughts might be different. I'd be doing some research into it, for certain.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
