Almost two years out.....

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone who has hit an extended plateau has used phentermine to help them? I have been at or around 215 for about 6 months now, been as low as 209 but as high as 218 I just cant seem to get goin on the loss again!

I started out at 287, so I am thrilled to be here, but I need to get my weight down to be healthy, and I just cant seem to get there! I do exercise, nothing huge but about 3x a week, and my fill is at 9.0 ccs in a 12 cc band. I feel pretty good there... slightly tight at that time of the month, but otherwise good.

Thanks!

Jodi

What are you hoping the phentermine will do? Are you hoping it decreases your appetite? You said that your band seems to be at a good fill. So are you hungry in between meals? Phentermine can temporarily increase your metabolism, but you could probably do that by working out more consistently and increasing the intensity and the number of days you work out.

How many calories are you eating per day? Are you tracking everything? Do you measure your portions or just eye ball it? Are you focusing on good nutrition, high Protein, lower carbs and fats? Have you talked to your primary doctor and have you had your thyroid checked?

These are all questions I'd ask myself before I decided to try any drug to lose weight especially after being banded.

If I had a plateau for that length of time, I would do a 2 week "boot camp". I would focus completely on my eating and exercise. Track everything. Measure everything. Do high Protein, low carb. I would drink tons of Water everyday. Workout 6 out of 7 days. Take my Vitamins. Do everything you are supposed to do. If after that time you still dont break the plateau then perhaps try the drug route.

Good Luck!

I agree with the above focus on calories and def need to increase the exercise and intensity even if include an extra day or add 15 each time and change up the exercise!!!! Good luck

Yep what she said ! / And I would say that after that 2 week period of Buckling Down to the Basics, you see know change ! Then I would call my surgeon. Because maybe, just maybe you need a slight fill.

You were given good advice, it's up to you to figure out the best way to do this.

Shirley.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
