Suggestions for chewable vitamins (Calcium, Multi, and Vitamin D

Recommended Posts

I will be banded two days from now. I know after my surgery I can only take chewable vitamins. I need some suggestions to what chewable Vitamins to buy. The vitamins I am on now are not chewable, so I will not be able to take them after the surgery. Also, do you guys take your Calcium and multi-vitamins three times a day. I was told that your body only absorbs 500 (g/mg I can't remember) at a time.

For Calcium and Vitamin D I do the chewable viactiv Vitamins. They are chocolate and remind me of a tootsie roll. I actually buy a generic version. I take 2 a day. Usually both at the same time, maybe I should split them up.

I have been taking Bariatric Advantage Lap Band chewable vitamins. They taste horrible. I can't wait till I'm done with my bottle so I can try something else.

I also use the chewable walgreens brand of Calcium the chocolate chew, and it is my tootsie roll too. I was using the Centrum chewable vitamins, but could hardly gag the taste after a couple weeks. I found a liquid Vitamin at Sams Club called Liquid Reviva. Its a high potency multi vitamin, and it's fruit flavored. I think it's good, and you don't have those nasty little pieces of unchewed Vitamins to deal with. The best part is that it's less than $10 for a months worth of doses.

Good luck with your banding.....its the best decision I've ever made for myself!

Were all put on FLINTSTONE Vitamins WITH CHOLINE. I have had substitutes, that say their equal. But NO Way !

look up the choline, and see what your getting. Almost 5 yrs. on them, and be on them for ever.

Their in the orange box. Get a coupon from the Website and try them.

When I am Hungry, I take 4 of them out and chew them. It takes away the Hunger too.

The only chewable I take is my multi and it's two One a Day sours. It's a sweet treat as well (sours are not very sour at all).

Everything else I take are full size solid pills including: Vitamin D (Gelatin cap), Calcium (solid pill), magnesium (solid pill), zinc (solid pill), cinnamon (gel cap), lysine (solid pill), omega-3 (large Fluid gel cap), prilosec OTC (solid pill), DHEA (solid pill), birth control (solid pill), allergy pill (solid pill), and B1 (gel cap).

I take them all at night and all at once and I'm in my green zone (but will be scheduling a 0.25 cc fill in July)..

You can take solid pills, you just have to experiment to see what works best. Keep a cup of hot tea near by to drink after taking them during your experimentation phase to dissolve them faster if they don't go through immediately.

The only time I don't take mine all at once is after a fill, then I break solid pills in half (those that can be) and eliminate my Omega for a week.

The band isn't about restriction. It's about helping you learn to eat when hungry and only until satiated and not eat the rest of the time.

I buy the Up&UP brand from Target for the chewable Multivitamins. They actually taste really good!

I take two gummies a day for complete daily recommendation. And then I take one B-12 complex from Trader Joe's

as well as liquid Calcium. You can find a big bottle of it at costco.< /p>

I was told anything chewable except gummies. My nutritionist said that they don't work as well. I also like the Viactive but would also like to try the generic versions if they are cheaper. How many Flintstones does one need to take?

Smaller person would take 2.

There on sale now at Rite Aids if you have one by you, then take in the coupon.

Thats what I am going to do.

I bought the flintstones with Iron. What is the difference or the benefits of the Choline?

You will have to look that up, because I'm not a memory Genius (WISH I WAS !)

It's got to do with Vitamin B12, and some other Vitamin.< /p>

But for me there is no Bruising at all, and I feel Peppy !

So google choline, read a few adds and you should figure something out of it.

I know we are all placed on it at my old Bariatric center, for LIFE.

So see what's in it for you.

One more thing, My DH and I had Blood Work done at the PCP, and my B12 is up, and so is Vitamin D.

His is in the Toilette.

I started off taking the Bariatric Advantage ones and they really do not taste very good.

At a support group meeting a few months ago, they had a speaker from a company called Celebrate. They sell bariatric Vitamins. We all got samples and they taste SO MUCH BETTER. I tossed all my BA Vitamins out and ordered the Celebrate ones. You can go to their website and get samples. Give them a try. I take the Calcium Plus 500, the Multi-AGB and the B-12.

The Bariatric Advantage company just sent me a sample pack for free, specially designed for gastric band patients. There were like 6-7 samples. Very nice...can't wait to try them! Definitely give them a buzz and they'll hook you up! Celebrate also sent an excellent sample pack for free as well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
