My surgeon will only fill my band every two months, so I had my surgery in March and have just had my second fill yesterday. I feel like this pace will never get me anywhere. I really want to get to a good restriction. Should I change doctors? Has anyone changed their doctor for their fills?

My doctor did fills once a month, even sooner if I wanted one. I would go to your doc. and explain how much your eating and how hungry you are. You might even want to keep a journal. With all that data, he may just be willing to give you a fill.

My doctor gives the first fill at 6 weeks post op and then you see them monthly after that. I would call to see if you can go ahead and schedule a fill for next month...you can always cancel it if you don't need it...

I agree with what others have said above, my doctors plan is that after six weeks I get one, and then once a month after that, so yeah, yours doesn't seem too often. As for getting other doctors to do fills, I think it depends on your surgeon. I know that mine is okay with me doing it, especially since I'm an 8 hour drive away from his office.

Just curious, why did you choose a doctor so far away?

My surgeon waits 6 weeks after surgery, then I can get fills every 2 weeks after that.

Mine does the first one at six weeks and then every two months. I've never tried to move the appt up, so I don't know if he would do it. For me, it helps to learn some self control. I've lost 85 lbs in the first 10 months, so it certainly can work. I've had five fills and I am just short of 3cc's in a 14 cc band. Oh, and I am very seldom physically hungry. Some times I just want to eat and that, I work at controlling.

If interested: Google Fill Center U.S.A..... You will have to enter your zip code, and it will tell you where the closest fill center is to you.

You go when you feel like you need it.

This is the only fill center that I know of, besides your Dr...

Wow, that's great that you have lost so much without overfilling your band. I just had my third fill, I'm at 4.5 cc's. I'm still working on ignoring head hunger and trying to listen more to my body. Congrats on the stats!

My doctors office only does fills every two months too. I think they do that because they want to see how much you can lose within those two months with x- amount of fill. Good luck !

I guess it would also depend on how much he/she is putting in at each fill. I reached my sweet spot at fill number 2 with 5.3cc. I think I went for about 9 months without going back after that and then the next time was another 10 months. Right now I'm at 5.2cc and maintaining. It's frustrating until you find your sweet spot, but then should be pretty much smooth sailing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
