I havent had this surgery but a colonoscopy and it is day 5 and finally feel like me again,,,, anesthesia is also a culprit for the bad feelings and pain meds combined w gas pains, and surgery,,,,your body has alot to deal with. long as you are not fainting, bleeding throwing up etc i think some of us just not as tolerant as others,

I'm with you all on a lot of your experiences. Right now all I feel like doing is sleeping/crying because of how uncomfortable I feel. I hate to feel not 100% - it drives me bats. I have a lot of things I'm going through right now that sometimes have me thinking, "Why did I do this to myself?" They are:

- Port pain galore! Only my port is on my right side???

- This means I can't fall asleep on my tummy or on my right side, my two preferred ways to sleep. I feel "robbed" of something, if that makes any sense.

- 1/4 cup or a 1/2 cup of any shake/soup takes me FOREVER to sip

- I can no longer take a big gulp of cold Water in these hot days :( Do you know how crazy that drives me? I just want one freaking gulp of ice cold Water, gosh darn it!!!!!!

- I feel thirsty all the time, even though I'm sipping water like crazy in between "meals" (shakes)

- God forbid I have any kind of liquid, water included, just before bed. I'm a nightime drinker (always have been), but lately, whenever I take a sip of water and lay down right away, my gut starts wreching in pain. Why???

- I always have this feeling of "tightness" or "squeezing" just below my sternum. Sometimes I can manage to forget about it, other times I can't.

- I have a hard time taking a deep breath or yawn right now. I think its my diaphragm that hurts... or maybe my abdominal muscles? It sucks not being able to get in a good yawn, ya know?

- NO ENERGY. Super fatigued. Gah!

Then again... I have to remind myself. I'm BARELY on day 7 post-op. What can I expect? It's the first time I've ever had surgery in my life (I'm 27) and prior to this, I had rarely taken pain meds. Like other experienced bandsters here say (over and over), I NEED TO GIVE THIS SOME TIME. I'm trusting that it WILL get better.

Still... that doesn't stop me from sometimes feeling, "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" :)

Hang in there. I'm trying to too!

(P.S. Weight loss is awesome so far, at least).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
