This is Camille. Dr. Minkin did my fill at Des Peres yesterday 2-22-06. They all put on lead aprons and did the fill right under the xray and it was a cinch. I have had tooth cleanings that were more trouble. I am telling you folks if you live near St. Louis, this guy is great. Just ate some runny mashed potatoes and I am full. Tommorrow I can start the trial and error. He said I could try anything but salads and sticky rice and Jerky type food. Then I left the hospital and missed my turn home and went to Illinois and after that got locked out of my car at Walmart so I guess it all evens out. Cam

I was banded by Dr. Rodrigues 4/5/05, and am pleased with the results. I also see Dr. Malley for my fills. In fact, Dr. Malley's new office is right up the street from my house, in Mission, KS.. I would be happy to talk with you befor or after surgery. Maybe evn meet up with you sometime. Goo Luck!

I am getting banded in Monterrey Mexico next Friday 3/10/06 by Dr. Garza. I have done a lot of research on the banding. I would just like some input on having it done in Mexico. I am confident that Dr. Garza will do a good job as he has done 2500 of the bands. What is the experience like for a non spanish speaking person?

its a breeze. hopefully they will give you a cheat sheet for common spanish phrases as my dr. did before I went. the only one i remember now is bano' for bathroom. but it will all be ok. I did it and everything was fine. even though you might not be able to communicate through language - you'd be surprised at how much you can communicate through body and sign language. no worries!

Iam in St. Louis and looking into the Lapband. I was wondering if any one had a number for the doctor at Des Pers in Kirkwood(St. Louis) I have been looking at the others but would like to know more about this doctor.

Thanks

I was banded on March 10th in Monterrey, Mexico by Dr. Javier de la Garza. Everything went like clock work. I am almost 4 weeks out and have lost 36 lbs and 3 pant sizes. I would highly recommend Dr. Garza if you have to self pay.

I am getting my aftercare and fills with Dr. Stephen Malley in Overland Park. He will do the fills if you use certain Dr's in Mexico. Dr. Garza is one of them.

They say Dr. Dunshee in Topeka does them for less. I went to Dr. Ortiz in Tijuina as he was $9,500 and Dr. Malley does my fills. I think he charges $16,500 for cash paying customers. I love Dr. Malley but just could not afford that price.

Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
