Back from MX yesterday...banded 1/19

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wanted to say that I'm back from Tijuana where I had my band surgery with the Bajanor Hospital...DH and I ended up staying an extra day, since I didn't anticipate having surgery so late in the day (9pm) and having to leave only 18 hours later! (duh) Anyway, that whole extra day was really helpful and I felt a LOT better...

Again, I want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences and information...you all have been a priceless resource for beginning my journey...so happy to be on the LOSING side!!! :clap2:

Mithow, I am thinking of going to Monterrey Mexico and having my lap band done with Dr. Roberto Rumbaut. I was wondering if you set up a nutritionist, a support group, and a physician that would take care of fills and any complications here in the U. S. before you went?

I did set up an aftercare Dr. here in the Tampa Bay area. As far as a nutritionist, I haven't done that yet. I figure I'll just follow the diet plan the nutritionist in Mexico gave me for the first 6 weeks and once I get a checkup and fill at about 5-6 weeks, I'll ask for a referral to a good nutiritionist and ask about any support groups. The aftercare Dr. is really important to set up first. Let me know if you have any problems finding one, as I'll let you know the process I went through to find mine, maybe you'll have the same good luck finding one.

Congrats on your decision to get banded! :(

Thanks for your reply. I found a place in Nashville called Fills Centers USA and they are setting up these centers all across the US just for the purpose or fills, nutritional guide and support. I think I am going to go with them. I talked to one of the representatives and she is going to email me more info. Thanks again... :(

M,

I am scheduled for lap band @ Bajanor on 3/3. Could you tell me how it was and if you were happy with your decision to go there? Thanks!

I was banded by Dr. Rumbaut. You see a nutrision person while at his office. I was treated wonderfully and I am 3 weeks post op. I am also doing fills at fills USA, but in Boynton Beach Florida.

Let me know if I can answer any questions..,..

I am seriously considering this location for my surgery, were you satisfied and what was your total cost?

Hi fordmotor, I had my band surgery done at Bajanor about 3 weeks ago. I'm doing very well and had a great experience there. My total cost was $8,550 ($8000 for band, surgery fees, hosptial stay, airfare & hotel for one night. $350 was for my husband's airfare. $100 was to stay an extra night at the hotel & the last $100 was for the change in our plane tickets to stay an extra night)...hope this helps.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
