Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

I had my true last supper last night and I ate half of what I normally used to. Felt good. I was good the rest of the day so it shouldn't be a problem that I ate like that. Maybe had 1200 cals yesterday. Took kids to pool and did a mega-shop at four different grocery stores/mall/warehouse store. Know I burned it all off just bringing all that into the house!

How fares our July banders?

Good morning July Bandsters ! Hope the July 1 bandsters had a good night and are ready to start sipping their liquids. And to those who are on the pre-op of liquid ... I am really getting nervous about this part of the journey - start on Tuesday. Spending some time this morning trying to figure out how to put together a blog. I will need something to do with my hands to avoid eating !

Any tips on starting a blog would be appreciated :)

Blogwise: I started out with blogspot but moved to tumblr because of the amazing weight loss community!

I can DEFINATELY relate to this. I'm on day 5 of my 7 day pre-op and its just really got me down.

I can't stick to my plan for EVEN a day! I either snack on things I'm not allowed to or can't stomach more Protein bars/shakes.

Weighing in for the first time since day two tomorrow morning and I'm terrified that I won't have lost (or even gained!) even though I'm exercising my butt off and still only eating about 600 calories.

I can only have three shakes a day (and no fruit and veggies) for tomorrow and Monday and I KNOW that I'm going to struggle... Driving to Sydney (3 hours away, where my surgery is) tomorrow afternoon and have my pre-op appointment on Monday before Tuesday's surgery. It's so close but it feels SO FAR AWAY!!!

Ugh! I'm sorry for all my recent negativity... I just don't deal well with this restrictive sort of diet!

I'm SO proud of all of you for being strong enough to do this. People DON'T understand how hard this journey is, all they see is the before and after picture.

♥Aly

You so got this! Don't beat yourself up...the lifestyle changes we have already made are more than most people can handle, let alone adding the pre-op diet restrictions. Keep your head up...stay as focused as you can. Safe travels and best of luck on Tuesday. Look forward to hearing your stories on the post-band side! :)

Heading out to the beach for vacation and July 4th festivities. I have four more days of pre-op diet and until my surgery. I hope I can manage to stay on the diet while away! Wish me luck! I hope all of our first few banders are recouping VERY well!

Hey There,

Just looking for any July 2011 banders. I just started my process, but as that I am "self-pay", I am on a fast track to surgery. Although, not terribly obese (bmi 34), I am using lap band surgery as a tool for continued success after loosing weight. I have always been able to join a program(diet or exercise or prescription) and loose weight.....I've done it several times with several different programs (not a good thing), but I always gain the weight back and more. Now that I am in my 40s, it is harder to loose and faster to come back. No more, I say! I want to be heathy in my future - family history/genetics dictates that I will/can be using a walker or wheel chair from degenerative bones and joints, heart disease, diabetes. I am trying to steer clear of that but still keep seeing myself heading in that direction, so now is the time for further action. Although apprehensive about going under, I am reading all the good things about the lap band procedure and am hoping that it is just a little more than the tubiligation and endemetrial ablasion that I had done last year. At least, I am thinking of it that way, so as to not scare myself too badly!

Just a note to let everyone know that yesterday's surgery went just fine. The doc did repair a 1-2 cm hernia, which i hear is very common. The surgery center staff was so helpful and friendly.

I'm officially moving over to the July 2011 group in the post op section and I'll post some more information about my surgery. Best wishes to all that are coming up in July :)

Banded!! Friday morning at 10:30, overnight stay at the hospital, home about 1 this afternoon.. Folks, I am doing GREAT!!!! no gas pain in the shoulder, etc... staying on my pain meds and walking every hour for 10 - 15 minutes.

Doc said the surgery went very well... the two week liquid pre-op diet paid off and made things easy for him.

the diet... yes it sucks!! yes I cheated, like this... had a slice of cheese almost every day from days 4 through 12; had some plain tuna fish about day 10, and a cheeseburger at a graduation party. I will say that the Syntrax brand of Protein Shakes saved me. I got the fuzzy navel and Roadside Lemonade flavors, and they are great just in Water. Normally I'd get a gag reflex mixing a whey Protein Shake in water, but these are really good. I got them via Amazon, but I think GNC may carry them as well.

So I'm really counting my blessings here, all has gone well, I feel really good. Moving around certainly helps alot.

For those of you struggling with the preop dietd, hey hold on to the victories... Like I said before, for me it used to be "all or nothing".. I'd start a diet, do good, then cheat and blow it completely and trash yet another diet. For the past two weeks, I'd give myself a grade of about 90 on the diet... That in itself is a breakthrough for me. And now that the surgery is over, I can easily see that I was busy making mountains out of mouse turds... I played the head games, second guessed and third guessed myself, etc.. and now I just feel great and I'm excited about this new chance at a healthy life...

That's it for now from this side of Bandy land...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
