@jen120 - I cried last night too for some time. It's just hard to put your head around what i've done. And the fact that I did it to myself makes it all the harder. I've moved on to semi-liquids now, still hungry and still upset, but there's not much I can do about it now, so I guess i'll just have to wait it out.

today was my day to move from Clear Liquids to semi liquids - for lunch I am having Panera bread /tomato Bisque Soup. Here is the list from my doctor of what to eat beginning the 3rd day up till day 15 post op

broth, cream Soups, diet popsicles, watery grits or oatmeal, cream of wheat, blenderized Soups ( vegetable beef, chicken noodle etc) no particle bigger than 3mm

low calorie high Protein smoothies, low fat yogurt, sugar free pudding.

Juices between meals

Water, crystal light, unsweetened tea, coffee, propel, gatorade, juices ( count calories these add up fast) sugar free jello( let it dissolve in mouth)

I like Sonic drinks and their strawberry creamslush has 7 grams of Protein in 370 calories so I may try that for dinner.

I hope this helps. Hang in there -- today I still have a lot of gas pain in my shoulders but I am determined not to take pain medication until at least 5 pm so I am walking all over the house.

Lisa

Post op- days 1-15 - Protein shakes, Water, special K Water, Decaf tea or coffee, sf Gelatin, sf popsicles, crystal light

days 6-10 - Protein Shakes, water, cream of wheat, malt o meal or thinned oatmeal, fat free yogurt, sf pudding/custard, strained Soup, or blended soup, whipped veggies or potatoes, baby food.

days 11-15 eggs, lean ground meats, fish (tuna fish) shredded chicken, soft fruits and vegetables, limited whole wheat and whole grain starches.

Good luck to you all and remember why we did this and what our future outlook is.

Feel your pain. For premade shakes I like Premier brand which is available at costco. If you go for Mucle Milk ready made make sure to get the light version.

I was banded on May 26th and am now on liquid diet, day 3...I'm quite sure I'm ready to tackle someone for some actual food! This is just torture! I know I have to let my stomach heal and everything, but come on!!! broth, Jello, popsicle, Protein...broth, Jello, popsicle, protein...good grief! And I can't even get down much of the Protein. It's absolutely horrible and I haven't even gone to the shakes yet, this is the unflavored unjury. It's so horrible in Crystal Lite, I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or the people that recommend it just have no taste buds, but YUCK!!!

I need some suggestions if anyone has any! I know I'm not getting enough protein and I'm woozy and have the worst hunger pains I have ever experienced in my life! Any help is appreciated!

I too was banded on the 26th. I had it done in Mexico and did fairly well the days I was in the hospital. I was up walking round trying to get rid of the gas. I really wasn't hungry. Well all changed when I got home. I am not sure it that is because of habits. I am not physically hungry but dying for something worth eating. I find myself smelling the food I am serving my family and just trying to convince myself that it is only 4 more days to liquids with flavor. We can do anything for 4 days.

My doctor has me only on liquids. There is no Protein until next week. Is that typically? How are you feeling at the port site? I am still walking and working out the gas but my biggest issue is the pain I have in my port site when I sit down, stand up or roll over. When does that pain stop?

I was banded on May 3 so I'm in the mushie/soft food stage. I've noticed that if I adhere to the recommended Protein intake (at least 50-60 grams/day), it alleviates most of the hunger pains. I force myself to get my Protein in first and find that afterwards, I often don't want more than a few bites of anything else. I found this website below and it has an extensive list of Protein shake recipes, soft food, and healthy "lap-band" friendly recipes. It really helps to keep a variety of options available to you even if you are only in the liquid phase. I ordered numerous samples of Protein shakes off the internet and really enjoy going to my cabinet to select a Protein Shake that I'm in the mood for. Sometimes I want a refreshing, clear nectar shake and will add two scoops of protein and extra Water to get my required protein in early in the day, or sometimes I want a protein shake that is milkier, thicker and more "dessert-like". But, having the options available to me has been a real plus! I've also included a link below that I posted last week that contains numerous links to samples that you can order. After I've tasted them, I order a large container every week of the flavor that I like the best so that my pantry is well stocked with many different flavors and options.

Here's the link to the protein shake recipes and other bandster-friendly recipes:

Hope that helps! laugh.gif

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
