Getting/Staying Motivated

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I have been absent from here and I know why.....I am doing all the wrong things.

Recap- Banded 10/09 @289

Unfilled 02/11 @199 due to slippage

Rebanded 03/11 @216

Follow up 04/11 @224---- =(

I have been having a party with food since I was unbanded. Even after the revision, once I felt better was eating crazy. Each day I start over and do fine while at work, but once home the grazing begins. I am eating the wrong stuff and so much of it. I feel more out of control than before the original surgery. I also have been smoking again.

I took a walk tonight and feel good and hope to do this regularly. I feel like I am on the downward (upward on the scale) spiral.

I know what I need to do, just having trouble doing it. I need that excited motivation I had when starting out.

Having a lot of stress at work and though my BF is great, I will be leaving my school and home within the next year to be with him and that is weighing on my mind. Nothing is "planned" and that makes me crazy.

Just thought some true confession might help by getting the sins out there.

Hope everyone is doing well..

Tracy

I think we all have times where we graze on the wrong foods and do things we shouldn't do. Please don't let that discourage you! You will get back on track. I can't imagine being unbanded/unrestricted - I would prob eat a pound of bread and chocolate a dayhuh.gif

Keep your thoughts positive!! You'll get back o track

Thanks! Feeling good after I walked tonight. Hope that will keep up and make me stay focused.

They are not sure why I slipped. I doubt it was a surgical error since it was so long after the procedure. I did have a bad stuck episode in December and that could have started it all.

My surgeon was able to do the 2nd procedure as a 1 cut in belly button and it looks great. They have good support at my docs and I may call the psychologist there, or really dive into this with my own therapist.

Tomorrow's another day to start fresh.

That's good your in therapy. Keep up the walking! I would get the junk out of the house, if it's not there you have to go to a bit more effort to eat something not on a healthy eating plan. Focus on eating the right foods, even if your portions are larger than they will be once you have restriction again. Sorry you are having a tough time, try not to be too hard on yourself. Take care.

I agree, get the junk that you're grazing on out of the house! It'll just continue to tempt you. I hope you're able to get back on track. I know if I was unbanded I'd probably stuff myself silly, and I've only had this thing for three weeks laugh.gif

Dude, I've been off the wagon a few (or more) times myself. This is "LIFE" and it ain't easy. Try to find a point of focus and go with it, like your walks. Each time you take one, you'll feel better and it will help you find that balance. This isn't to say that you won't fall down now or later, but we can get back up! Sorry for the cliche'...but it's the truth.

i'll admit it today i bought doughnuts :( yes i ate 2 chocolate doughnuts cause i knew my husband was going out to the field for training and knew once he left i was going to diet and so i decided to have a naughty day and eat what i wanted. i also had a hamburger :( i am hating myself for being so bad. i am really struggling cause i am a emotional eater and with alot of stress in my life right now its hard. with this bin laden crap going on and my husband having to go back to iraq very soon. i have fallen into very bad habits please no one bash me please understand this life isn't easy and i don't judge you on your life. i have promised myself i would throw the other 2 doughnuts away and start my hardcore diet tomorrow. its easier to diet when he is gone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
