I was finally banded on April 27th....did well overall...walked in at 9am...was on the table at 10 and walking out the door at 1230 if you can believe that! It only took my surgeon an hour to place the band and fix my hernia. I'm feeling better today than I have so far...I'm able to move around more...gas pains are kicking my butt, but I'm trying to walk, walk and walk some more. First day was pretty rough, but I can say it's getting better everyday. Glad to have finally started the 'rest of my life'.... :D

I had surgery on the 28th. I ended up spending the night in the hospital. I had several bouts with nausea. YUCK!

I am feelng better. No pain meds today.

Do you know, should we take pain meds or not. I am uncomfortable, changing positions, but not all of the time. What do you think?

I was banded on the 28th. Went home the same day. Was in so much pain that night and the next day (a lot of shoulder pain) I questioned why I put myself through this. Today is my first day that I feel pretty good. Still a little shoulder pain and of course stomach really sore but no pain meds though. Seems like I have a hard time breathing every now and then. Started my creamy liquids today, never thought split pea w/bacon Soup liquified would taste so good (never liked it before). My biggest problem is that even when I take small sips of Water I get a pain in the middle of my chest. It goes away pretty quick but it is causing me to cut down on the amount of water/liquid I drink because I do not want to feel that pain. Anyone else have that problem? I have 5 incisions. My doctor told me 5 was normal for the lap band surgery.

Everyone sure was right about walking that gas pain away. I would say for 2-3 days I really didn't feel like myself...sat at the house and asked myself why in the hell did I do this to myself...by day 3 though moving, breathing and drinking didn't hurt hardly at all. In fact my inscision pain only lasted for 2 days...after that it was really only the gas pains in my shoulders and a wave like pain that would start in my sternum and then move up (almost like a burp) then resolve. This one freaked me out...but my doc said it was all related to gas pains/anesthesia. I noted that the gas pains were worse when I sat up first thing in the morning too.

Moving helps best of all. I returned to nursing at the bedside tonight with some lighter duty restrictions. Overall I feel pretty great!

I've only got 4 incisions...I figured there would be five but only 4; the scabs and glue are falling off already and they're healing up nicely!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
