Eating without drinking

Recommended Posts

Since I have not yet advanced from the liquid stage, I am curios to know how everyone's experience is with not drinking while eating. It seems like it would be so difficult at first. Do you ever get used to it. I tried it here and there during pre-op but I hated it.does anyone still attempt to drink while eating? Does it make you sick if you do it or just passes the food into the stomach quicker (allowing more room to eat more)?

I too have been wondering about this, since childhood I have always had a large class of juice with my food (sometimes two or three). I simply cant imagine how I'm going to eat without drinking when I get banded sad.gif

Don't pour yourself anything to drink when you eat. No cup, you can't drink. Pretty easy!

I have to admit that it sucks. I have always been a big drinker when I eat but I took the 6 months prior to my surgery to get used to it and I started drinking much less when I ate. I am almost 4 months post op and it has gotten easier not to eat when I drink, but getting the fluids in between meals is now a real challenge as I do not have a desire to drink unless I am eating. I really have to force myself to sip between meals.

Lol sounds easy but I'm talking about the habit. I always feel thirsty when I eat and want to wash the food down with a beverage.

It is very easy to eat without drinking for me. I used to drink 2-3 glasses of milk, tea or pop with every meal. But just knowing it will hurt my weight loss by pushing the food through and also may cause pain, keeps me from doing it. Plus it is cheaper. Lol!

You'll get used to it pretty quickly. The frustrating part will become dealing with waiters who just can't seem to grasp that you don't want anything to drink, not even Water.< /p>

I found it super easy to adapt to this. Not only does eating and drinking at the same time make the food pass through faster but it's something that I can't physically do. I can't fit the liquid and food in at the same time...it was easy for me to get use to.

This is exactly what I do. I don't get out a cup when I eat and I am fine. You will be so surprised at how fast this will become a habit. My husband will forget sometimes and asks me what I want to drink with my meal. I just look at him like he's crazy and then he remembers

I thought it would completely suck, but it actually came pretty easily. =D

I wont lie, it's not the easiest thing in the world since most people are used to drinking and eating. In the beginning I slipped up quite a few times but didn't even realize it until I was in mid sip. When I'm setting the table I don't put a glass at my spot just so it helps, the tricky part is doing it at a restaurant.....

If you can remind yourself that you'll feel full longer if you don't drink, it's easier to avoid it.

Not drinking while eating was a huge concern fo rme when I got banded. I didn't think I would be able to break the habit. But, the band really make sure you don't. For me, it's no problem at all now. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
