Hey everyone.

I'm currently in the process of beind banded...I almost hate to say that I'm going to have the surgery, just in case some fluke happens!!! It seems like I keep falling 1 step behind once I've gotten ahead....

In early March I went for an individual consultation with True Results in Houston, Texas. I am self-pay, since my insurance specifically excludes weight loss surgery for any reason. Ugh. At first I was worried that I didn't weigh enough or wasn't considered obese enough...well, that one shattered!!! Then to have psych eval....really????? Waited FOREVER for the stupid sleep study and now find I have to go back for a second round....really not liking that!!! But after talking again with my PC at True Results, Rachel, she said that this was the last thing I needed before surgery and went ahead and scheduled my pre-op for April 21, with surgery May 12.

I'm worried about surviving for 2 weeks on a limited diet (2 Protein Shakes plus 1 low fat meal per day) and also about the pain.....I've had 3 c-sections, 1 ear surgery, and gallbladder removal in the last 10 years, but the gallbladder has been the worst (laproscopically).....I've heard this is that bad as far as pain.

I'm grateful to be a part of a group that can share their triumphs and setbacks with a newbie; looking forward to your advice!!

Thanks.

Hi. Glad you joined lap band talk. I too use True Results in Houston and Rachel is my Patient co-ordinator. My surgery date is one week from today on April 20th. Stay in touch with me and I will let you know how my pain level is. Good luck I know you will do great and I will too. FYI-I am also a self pay so we have some things in common!

Hey Sandy1. Glad to have someone from my area that is dealing with the same company and self-pay. Have you been doing the Protein shake/diet? Who is your doc? I'm seeing Dr. Reilly next week for pre-op.

Good luck!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
