Hi, my name is Jamie. I am 27 years old and had the lap band August 20, 2010. I have lost approximately 40 lbs. My highest weight was 293 lbs. My lowest was while I was in high school/early college around 160 lbs. When I was around 21, I went off of birth control. I gained around 100 lbs in a few months. Several years and several doctors later, I was diagnosed with Poly-Cycstic Ovarian Syndrome, which affects hormones. My endocrinologist told me that I was basically self medicating with the birth control and when I stopped taking it, the PCOS reared it's ugly head. Too bad getting the weight off won't happen as quickly as it piled on!

Anyway, I have been struggling the last few weeks with food and exercise choices. Logically, I know what I need to do, but I have not overcome the emotional aspects of being obese and losing weight. That is why I am seeking support from the online community.

Hi Jamie. I am new also and am still researching the band. I just wanted to say welcome. I was told by my OB that I 'may' have PCOS....he didn't really seem too worried about it. I am going for another appt w/ a different OB for another opinion. Also go next week for my info session w/ the band surgeon. Hope you find lots of info here at this site.

J

Hi Jamie,

Welcome to the forum! Glad you got banded. Who did your surgery? Have you gone back and gotten a fill yet? Have you discussed your progress and/or weight loss goals with your doctor? Definitely stay connected to the site and get support from others who may be struggling attaining their weight loss goals. Many of us have been there and get encouragement from each other. Go online and get a weight loss ticker. Post your weight loss success to date so you Celebrate what you have achieved. You should be proud of that. I definitely wish you the best and know you will be just fine. It may not come as quickly as you want it but you'll get there!! Stay encouraged and hang in there!!

Lynn

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
