Oh how I love sushi

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am not banded yet, and I just finished a sushi lunch box. While stuffing my face with sticky rice, I was thinking, "I probably won't be able to eat this at all after my band". I know everyone's band is different and everyone can tolerate (or not tolerate) different things, but I was wondering how many you who are banded can eat rice, and if so, how many can eat the sticky Japanese rice and/or sushi and sushi rolls? Sushi is a major passion of mine and I can't imagine going the rest of my life with never eating it again.

It's not recommended, due to the rice, lol, also I tried it and it didn't stay down very well, I was actually kind of glad.

Hi, Sushi *was* my favorite thing. I kinda laughed after banding, because every time I checked, it was like "A-OK, rice is still going down, I am blessed." Then, almost 7 months and 50 pounds lost after banding, I was at a client christmas party, and THAT SUSHI RICE DID NOT GO DOWN! It sent me scurrying for a bathroom. I have checked twice since, and have conceded that "Sashimi" is now my favorite thing. It goes down fine....

Cheers!!

I was going to say the same thing - just more onto sashimi. Its jsut as good, in fact better since the fish is so good for you. Not as much fish in sushi.

Sashimi GOOD!! Sushi, not good. Seaweed wrappers, the devil!!!

The very worst banding-related experience I had was due to some seaweed I didn't chew well enough -- hah, like you can chew seaweed. Sashimi is perfect bandster food, though, so go to your favorite restaurant and pig out!!

Help, what is sashimi. I love sushi and thought possibly I could try it but after reading this I guess its not a good idea. So if someone could help with sashimi, maybe I wouldn't be so disappointed.

Do you have a sushi kit Nana? DH and I bought one once, but we didn't have much luck. What do you put in yours?

I'm really interested in the whole DIY sushi thing because there isn't a great restaraunt close to us.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
