Pre-Op diet and weight loss

I started my preop diet yesterday ... and lost 4 pounds. Is that normal? Certainly I won't keep the trend for the next 6 days, but how much should I expect to lose a day? (my doctor expects 10 pounds in 7 days)

Good for you! You're right it probably won't continue at that rate. We all have 5 pounds or so of Water weight. My doctor put me on a crazy 500 calorie diet and claimed I would loose 1 pound a day. I was exercising an hour a day. In 5 days I lost NOTHING. With no cheating. I had however been on my own diet for 2 months and had already lost 20 pounds.

If you have the ability try to get some exercise in. If you live in a cold part of the country and don't belong to the gym; go to the mall. Great place to walk esp on a week night after 8:OO hardly anybody there.

I lost about 5 lbs my first day but like they say before me its usually water weight. I think on the 2 weks i was on it i lost about 17lbs. My diet consisted of high protein and low carb. I could eat all protiens i wanted and was encouraged to drink protein shakes. I never tried but 2 shakes at that stage but ate a LOT of cheese burgers without the bread. lol. Good luck on your pre-op diet.

So far I'm down 7 pounds.
